Should i buy a PS3 or XBOX?

I own an xbox and I love it.

PS3 is a good console too.

Just buy whichever one more of your friends own, that way you can play games with them (playing with friends is 10x funner than by yourself imo)

 

to be honest, the PS3 controller layout is the exact same as XBOX, they just changed the size and shape.... i could get an XBOX version of the PS3 controller anyways.

 

No... not at all. Controller layout has always been revolved around an 'A, B, X, Y' configuration so this is naturally a built in instinct for most gamers. Sony attempted to be more innovative with the release of playstation- and came up with a circle box triangle blah blah config- why? I don't know. L1,L2,R1,R2 ... not necessary.

Ultimately the gamecube controller was the most accessible due to its simplicity- and that's what i look for.. simplicity.

and L1L2,R1R2 is the same a LB, LT, Rb, RT

I have got a Xbox for a year and when I played on my cousins PS3 I was surprised how good it was. I bought a PS3 myself the next day and haven't touched my XBOX again. Please don't listen to these fanboys but look on internet for all features of both consoles.
I would say PS3 is great.
Xbox is good.
PS3>Xbox


EDIT: Pc gaming is still the best.
No auto aiming shit like on The consoles.
But yeah PC games got ruined by the consoles because all games have to be limited, otherwise consoles can't run them... *sad face*
PS3 games also have to be limited because otherwise XBOX can't run them. so PS3 exclusive games will be far more detailed/bigger then the Xbox games.

 

Im not saying people aren't capable of adapting- this is obvious.. im saying that it was an unnecessary transition.

First. These kids are obviously stating Xbox for a reason: They've always had one. Lets talk about facts...

PS3 Graphics:
- Not as good as EA sports games on Xbox. (EA has a private connection with XBL)
- Better quality with EVERY war game. Everything is in Blue-Ray unlike XBL.

Xbox Graphics:
- Better quality with sports game of EA than ps3..
- Not everything is Blue-Ray like ps3. So war games are waaaay worse.

PS3 Live:
- Free
- Use a certain type of connection to prevent much lag
- Not all these damn cheaters using mods
- Patched stuff so glitchers can't fuck you up
- Give you demos of EVERY game coming out soon BEFORE its out
- Fast DL rate
ps... Better controller layout, you know it xboxers

Xbox Live:
- Laggy
- Old system of internet
- Have to pay
- To many hackers, modders, glitchers
- Take forever to update
- Slow DL rate
- Pay 70$ for a wireless free connection

Don't believe me? Hook a ps3 and xbox up to 2 TV of the same.. Right beside, and look at War games and Sports games... Also look up shit online, basically..

I was once making the same choice you were. I ended up choosing the ps3, which was the wrong choice FOR ME. All of my friends had xbox360s. I thought at the time, and still do, that the PS3 is better. Ive compared the online play, PSN is just as good as XBL, and its free. But even thought i spent quite a bit less money getting the PS3 setup, it wasnt worth it. I ended up buying an xbox360 about 6 months later, and loving it. I cant promise you that you will be the same, but for me, playing with friends is where its at. It doesnt even compare to playing by yourself. So which would i choose? Whatever your friends have. If it is 50-50, then get a PS3. It is better for several reasons i wont get into since there has been thousands of threads on it.

EDIT: also, anyone who says "xbox360, no question" obviously doesnt have a PS3. Take it from me, who has both an 80gb PS3 and a 120gb Xbox360 elite. The PS3 is better, but because my friends play xbox, i prefer to play that. And the part the guy above me said about hackers is true. You cant join a single MW2 lobby on xbox360 without seeing atleast 1 hacker. I have NEVER seen a hacked name or anything like that on PS3 in MW2. Another thing i noticed that turned me off to XBL was the average age of players. On Ps3, the average age was probably around 18. Xbox360 was probably around 12. The 12 yr olds get real fucking annoying, especially because everyone has a mic.

About the controller: the PS3 controller is almost identical to the PS2 controller. If you grew up on a PS2 like me, it is a natural transition. It is merely preference. Neither is "better" or "worse"

i have three good friends that play xbox, and two that play PS3.
one of the XBOX kids is going to the same college as me, so its 2 and 2.

i think i am going the PS3 route because i can always come home and play xbox with my friends that way.

I have both systems, and I would have to say get a ps3. My xbox is what I normally play but only because it's what my friends are on. My xbox has broken once and now that the warrenty is up I really hope it doesn't break. So I wouldn't count on that to be reliable. It also sucks to have to pay for live every month/year. Wireless adapters are pretty expensive too, I paid $105 for my xbox one but that was last year. You seem to like most of the ps3 hits so I would say thats the system for you!

Lets add to that list shall we?

PS3:
- Sony makes games for each console for 10 years, so you know you are going to get 10 years out of it if you by it from the release date.

- They rarely ever freeze/break/overheat
- They are for older, mature, serious gamers

Xbox360:
- No idea how long they make games for, but i know its not for 10 years since the original xbox is like extinct now, and that came out AFTER PS2, in which sony is still making games for because of the 10 year garauntee.

- Xbox's often screw up, overheat etc. All that red ring of death for example.

- Because of their price, parents often buy this for their kids, meaning the average age of the xbox user is far younger than that of a PS3 user.


If you take games seriously, go for a PS3. You can have more mature matures, not whiney little cheap shotting kids on Xbox. You only have to look at the arguments here from the xbox fanboys to see my point. Those siding with PS3 are stating facts, those siding with xbox are just like 'xbox coz der cheap an dat xbox live is rly good an halo is cool ftw'.

Final Fantasy XIII on XBox = 3 Normal Disc's.

You are going to see a lot more of that in the future. Some gaming companys have decided to release certain games ONLY on PS3 simply because Xbox360 can't handle it or doesn't have enough space on their disc's.

As I would not be able to last 10 seconds with a gaming console that will never get another Half-life/VALVe game, I say Xbox.
