Selling Kidneys for money

I can't believe the idiots here who are saying this is fine. Organ brokers (middlemen) make fortunes out of it. Donors are usually ill-educated and in desperate poverty, they are effectively forced into it through circumstance. Grooming the desperate for their bodily organs is one of the purest form of exploitation and a human rights abuse far more fundamental than the laws put in place to stop the trafficking.

 

It's not my responsibility to take care of uneducated people.

 

If someone wants to sell their organs, that's up to them.

 

Every human being should be able to choose how they want to treat their own body. If they want to sell their own body parts, who are we to stop them?

No, when dealing with rich Western clients (like they usually do), they rake in thousands. The actual donors are apt to be the ones making 300-500$ per pop.

I'm just grateful that governments exist to steal your hard earned money and freedom in order to give the people who feel the need to prevent real exploitation of others the power to act

The one-principle-fits-all-situations approach is childish. The practical upshot of accepting the principle of self-ownership here is that the desperate poor become a source of spare parts for those with enough money to pay the middle-man. Even when organ sales are legal, the business is overshadowed with corruption, exploitation and murder.

This really comes back to the whole self-ownership issue. If you accept it as valid, then of course people should be allowed to sell their extra organs, if they really wish to

i think it is 100 percent ok, people can do what ever is in their legal means to provide money for their family and themselves. if it is legal in Thailand to sell their organs and it will provide food and a higher quality of living for their family then go for it. and as for the argument that these poor people are cheated out of their money and the middle men get most of the money that is complete bullshit. if the donors are getting screwed over home come there are still donors? and if they are getting screwed over and only getting 500 bucks that must still be enough money for people to keep on donating otherwise it would get around and no body would donate...

I really do think its a good idea, yet its a risk. You can become rich, well decent money to get a apartment and shower and have a job application, and so on, so it can put you back on track, yet you can still be helping somebody to get well.

This is why there are so many people on waiting list for kidney transplants. If only The government would allow the selling of kidneys there would be a lot of people willing to sell there kidney for a few extra bucks. The main reason people don't want to give up a kidney to a total stranger is because they don't have any benefits from it.

 

You own your body. If you want to sell a kidney, that is your decision.

Now, if you deny somebody self ownership what options are left?
1) Somebody else owns your body, which makes you subhuman.
2) Everybody owns everybodys bodies, which is also ridiculous because you wouldn't be able to make any efficient choices about your body unless you appointed a group to make choices for everybody, which becomes the first option again.

 

yeah i think you should be allowed, but then the government doesn't want it all to get fucked up, such as people that are selling kidneys actually need it back or some shit.. or the buyer gets a fucked up kidney and kills the dude...

Or people who cant afford kidney would be left out

So basically alota problems would rise if usa gov said they would allow them to sell kidneys... ya know?

your right, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt care. The way you think is "every man for themselves", i mean if everyone thought like this the world would be a very sad place. Just because these people are not your responsibility, doesnt effect you, doesnt mean something shouldnt be done about it.

 

Yes, your body, you should be able to do what you want with it.

BTW off topic, but i read in the paper a few years back that there's a black market for organs stolen off of recently dead bodies
