It actually made me tired all the time, and i developed a sleeping disorder from it. Like for example, i would take it in the morning before school, be tired through out the whole day, and i would go home, eat supper then crash.

It all depends on the person taking it how they will react.

You are right that every medicine can affect people differently, and I have no doubt that a stimulant may have affected your sleeping pattern.

Medically defined however, it is like I said, a STIMULANT.

ADHD is widely abused, alot of parents in poor areas such as west virginia and kentucky get there kid diagnosed, the parents sell the pills and also if your diagnosed you are entitled to a check (if the states eveluation decides you are actually ADHD)ranging from $350-$750 a month from social security administration that comes out of your parents SSI until your 18, alot of parents abuse this,

Also it only affects you with alot of severe side effects if you are in fact not actually ADHD, for kids that are not ADHD it is "SPEED" and people buy it and sell it as a street drug due to the opposite effects it has on someone that is not ADHD.

I am currently taking it, and well, the shit 'controlls me'. I take it in the morning before going to school, and it makes me not hungry, tired, have mood swings, and get aggrivated very easily in class. Althought when I am given assignment's, it does focus my attention to the work, and help me from becoming distracted.

Honestly, I think that if I tried hard enough, I could do without the medicine, but that's the thing; trying. I get distracted really easily. I'm actually pretty smart. I have some of the best averages in my class, and the only thing that hurts me is not turning in my work, and losing it easily. With the help of it, I become organised, do my work, and turn it in.

The medicine makes me unsocial, and at times my friends ask me if things are okay, and that I look depressed and such. I tell them that i'm just tired (which is the truth; It makes me very tired).

well your obviously thinking as if the side effects always occur, most of them are rare or minor side effects, and once reported to your doctor you will most likely be switched to another version of the medication that will most likely stop the pre-occurred side effects, look at it this way, most prescription medicine has 20-40+ side effects that are common, though not severe, and the small risks from side effects are out-weighed by the benefits that can be caused by the medicine.

I basically need something like Ritalin that just increases my attention span.

I was wondering if other natural things aid with that.

I find it is good for people who need it, such as victims of ADHD.

start lifting weights, and exercising regulatory, take a multi vitamin, a vitamin B-complex(make sure it has B-12), omega-3 fish oil, (and/or flax seed oil), when taking the B-complex you get better results after eating red meat. Eat more healthy foods, tons of fruits and veggie and high protein meals. By exercising (cardio; running, swimming, basketball, volley ball, anything to get your heart rate up) you WILL have more energy to do something. By weight lifting you will become stronger, less stressed, and a good way to blow off some steam. Also wake up earlier, and go to bed earlier, try and get at least, bear minimum of 8 hours of sleep, try 9-10. When you wake up get completely up sit on your floor and think of 10 things that make you happy, or you want to do that day for 10 minutes, don't time it but be as calm as you can. and see if you can't fit in some exercises in there too. All around you will become a more healthier person, have more "good" energy, not being hyper... and you will be able to do more.

If it doesn't cause any harmful long term effects, I say it's perfectly fine.

I don't think it's bad... I used to be on it, the only MAJOR side affect being: loss of appetite, but, in reality, that's not a big deal. I was on Ritalin for nearly 4 years.

Everyone also has to remember: Even if the side effects/affects were 1 in a 1,000,000,000, they'd still have to put it on for legal purposes.

I have no problem with it at all. It's not bad. I got taken off of it because I scored a 98% on attention during an IQ test.
