Never spoke to him but I caught a few of his streams, Seemed like a really genuine guy. Rest easy.

 

When I first joined we talked a bit and he taught me about chargebacks. RIP Ryan. This is a crazy week..

Terribly sad to hear the news. I also feel pretty guilty. These are people I personally could've reached out to and maybe helped. Didn't know either of them beyond your average Sythe posting. But I hope they had peaceful passings.

Me and Ryan used to talk a lot. He was a great guy that cared about his friends and the site. Havent talked much recently but I wish we had. Always willing to answer any questions I had and help me out, always could count on him. I've seen him do the same on Sythe too especially on tech section.

Dont think about it that way,alot of people that get pushed to this point have tried talking. But they usually get shut down by; "oh,..damn", "wow man you'll be fine", or "stop being a bitch", "wow, youre just so negative", "there's people with worse problems", I know this from personal experience and I know this from my Uncle passing. You just get to a point you feel noone wants to listen anymore, and some of us dont choose to see a psychiatrist either because we feel their advice would be fake because its paid for. You just stop trusting people in general, its a terrible mindset to be in, but often learned through not encountering the right people along the point leading up to the decision.

 

From personal experience too I can say that going to a psychiatrist and getting proper medication does help a lot.

It is true that depression is seen as "being weak" though. You just got to "man up" and stop being a "little bitch". But again, going to a psychiatrist and getting proper medication does help significantely.

 

Have had and still have experience with depression too. I'm diagnosed with a disorder related to depression and can confirm that most people feel like telling them they're not alone dealing with it is gonna help. It won't. But speaking about it with a psychiatrist does help like @Buyacc said. Basically talking with anyone about it helps so long they're open for other people's problems.

 

exactly, and also stumbling upon and looking for the right media helps too, thats what helped me and still helps me. In the end its all about how bad you want to pursue happiness.

 

I agree that people should have the right to say whatever they want and we should have to right to say they're assholes for saying it.

But on topic, I don't want to presume to know what N4n0 was going through, but I did wanna say something. As someone who's experienced that trance-like state of depression, it's likely nothing anyone could have said to him would've helped influence his decision, so I hope none of his friends are feeling like they could be at fault or could've somehow helped him. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to be kind and reach out to people however. I just know that there comes a point where you become numb and words have a lot less power than they used to.

I hope that makes sense, I'm not the best at articulating thoughts. Sorry for everyone's loss.

 

SEriously, we have a golden opportunity to have life take you out. Lets not let this pass.

 

@Sythe why not handle this privately in the staff lounge. You are figuratively throwing your fellow staff under the bus. I get your stance on free speech but openly contradicting fellow administration is poor management.

@Chloe, fully agree. Pretty Shawn wasn't subjected to this type of vile and hatefulness. You are perfectly within your right to stand up for freedom of speech all your want but it's your site and you made it pretty clear in the past that whatever the fuck you want goes.

I get that this is the internet, you own the site, but what rights do we have exactly? Do I have the right to free press? Do I double jeopardy protection? To be very honest I would expect this behavior if we didn't know if it was real, or if you never knew the guy. But stand up for someone who devoted a good potion of their life to help make your website better. I would like to believe staff isn't just a number but at this point I see no reason to think otherwise.

RIP Ryan. I'll never forget the conversations we used to have back in the Sythe IRC when I first joined Sythe. You were a great guy and had an undeniable impact here on Sythe. My condolences go out to your friends and family.
