Not really a fan of the coloured names, it's helluva confusing now, and back in the day people used to think you'd have instant trust/kudos on the forum if your name was coloured in and bold.

Seems that most of the active members here disagree with the coloured ranks for CDT/PR/TC.

Perhaps hold a community vote to identify if it's truly wanted/warranted.

Now it's clear who is a moderator and who isn't. I feel like the new system is more clear. If you're a mod, you're cyan, period. Much better.

Maybe it's a separate issue that the groups get colors, but I think mods should all be cyan regardless.

 

Mods being all cyan is fine, and isn't a point of contention. It's the CDT/PR/TC colours that need a vote.

 

Before coming to this thread I seen one of your posts in the fitness section and literally thought you were a mod lol. As someone who has been on this forum for a long time where there has pretty much never been color for anyone except mods, my brain just assumes color = mod = this person must be somewhat trustworthy since they are a mod. Keep in mind there are a lot of Sythe members who just pop in every few months to make a trade. They most likely won't see this update thread so you can't assume all of the old members are just going to magically know what the colors mean.

I want users to be aware that development teams do exist. It amazes me how much long-lasting or veteran users try to lay waste on the development teams (they're so useless!) and the number of newcomers (or even those on the forum for up to 1-2 years) who have never heard of these teams. I don't think there's a better way of doing this (sticky threads are not that effective...) than having a usergroup markup assigned on the forum, which didn't receive much criticism since it was added on Discord a long time ago. Perhaps people never really thought about roles having colors on Discord (it should have the same argument), but when it's been added to the website everyone freaks out... as if their complaints about fun ranks or miniranks were not enough.

I find it peculiar how some users are criticizing this change, however, speaking in a tone which makes it seem like all development team members are untrustworthy or incredibly likely to scam. Since they aren't staff members, users will "incorrectly trust" them, as if users should trust staff members inherently when doing business with staff in the first place... This should prompt users to do research and hopefully have some desire to actively participate in the community again. I already knew the flood of complaints I would receive as a result of adding this to the site, but the arguments are not strong enough to warrant a reversal.

If you're not happy with the change and think you have good reasons why it shouldn't be implemented, I encourage you to open a dialogue by creating a suggestion thread.

 

100%. I think the change makes sense and brings more life and awareness to the community, even if I wasn't TC. Seems like everyone is against change in general on this site. Common argument I keep seeing is "that's not how it's always been done." I'm like...k....not sure why that matters.

 

But like Shin said, even if you're one of those very small minority with no Sythe awareness whatsoever, why are we assuming that someone accidentally seeing someone as a moderator is a auto-scam? IMO, 95% of the teams are some of the people I'd trust the most on Sythe. So, if people make the wrong assumption for a minute while the change sinks in, I would be surprised if it resulted in even one scam as a direct result of a color change. Plus if you're a long time member you know there's never been a moderator without a moderator fun-rank, so even if a scam did occur I'd say it was on the same level of not confirming someones skype. You confirm someone is a mod before trading them lol. I've never seen a mod with orange name and no mod fun-rank.

 

Wow chill Finn 2.0 I think we are all here just giving our opinion one way or another because we care about the site. No need to get emotional like we are attacking you because we don't agree with you. How are you encouraging an open dialogue by trying to demean anyone who gives an opinion opposite of yours? Relax my friend and stop acting like one of us kicked you in the Shin.

Is this an article for the onion? Poor leadership shows when you settle for little clubs that do not benefit the site more than the users enrolled in these clubs. It’s really pathetic that you’ve dragged out the “rubbing against the grain” campaign for nearly 2 years now, completely ignoring and not considering feedback in response to awful and terrible updates. Try listening to your userbase if you want to grow. Sounds reasonable enough, right?

It’s always a comical sight to see when the same users pushing these updates were once completely and emphatically against them, and gave reasoning that still holds true to this day.

These “clubs” in terms of significance hold little to none on authoritative grounds. First it was a minirank, then it was a status rank, then it was a usergroup, and now you’ve given the usergroup recognition that only staff is deserving of. What’s next? Hidden powers? It’s clear staff at the helm is under the influence of synthetic weed.
