I'm actually surprised that people are going to vote for Donald Trump.

 

I'm no defender of politicians, but just google strategic bankruptcy.

 

For 4 companies out of over 100. He's never filed personal bankruptcy, he is a billionaire.

 

It was bankruptcy for safety I think. Not literally that he was bankrupt but the company went bankrupt.

I believe in the 'higher power' conspiracy... Regardless of who is elected, someone else will be pulling their strings, or else they'll go the way of Kennedy. I believe they do have their own agendas though too... For example I think it's Bernie that wants to legalize pot? That's probably his own thing, if he'd even deliver it once he was elected (or be allowed to deliver it).

Personally, I support Trump... As with all the rest, I'm sure 90% of it is just talk... But regardless of how it's done, if we actually got someone that DID "make America Great Again", that'd be pretty neat. But, like I said, 90% of it is just talk, and won't be delivered no matter who wins.

Remember, Obama was going to make things better for the lower class... Bring jobs back to America (Currently, America is at a record high for jobs outsourcing to other countries for cheaper labor) What was done for us? Forced to pay for expensive insurance (Some Obamacare plans range over $1,000/month) and a higher federal tax on tobacco (it's a proven statistic that more lower class people smoke cigarettes than any other class, so thanks Obama)

Being a good business man isn't only about risking your cash. He could have invested, and he could have lost as well. He has very little investments and instead, makes money by "lending out his name to others".... As long as he's making more than he is spending, he's a good business man.

If he were, hypothetically, making 1bil/year but also spending 1bil/year, that's not good, but it could be worse... if he's making 1bil/year but spending 2bil/year then he is a horrible business man.

You're a member on sythe, you know you just have to avoid some offers because you question them.... or... maybe you've lost money on here because you throw cash at every unbelievable offer someone makes. lol. But it's the same concept... He's more cautious than most, has enough to live on, enough for 2 - 4 more generations to live on very comfortably... Hell, if I made 1 billion dollars period, I'd clock out and never leave my house again... He's stilll making money off just his name though, so kudos for that.


Though some of his speeches are a little bit idiotic, some of them are exactly what America needs... But as I said in my last post, it doesn't matter too much because no matter who is elected, there's a very slim chance of them doing the things they said they would that got them elected - That's just how the system works. Lie for votes, get elected, fuck the general population.

Trump was in the hole 3 billion so he made a deal with banks who he was endebted to lose half his equity and they keep half. However, this also meant that he didn't have half of the debt. He also did this with 4 other businesses. H pretty much filed for bankruptcy after making a certain amount of money and being in "debt" only to make "deals" with banks that actually work in his favor by taking the debts off of him and to the banks, which is now their problem and not his. He accumulates his debt by selling bonds to the public and not being able to pay them off later (he isn't actually losing anything here, he ISNT paying back the loans) and lets the banks handle the resulting debt. The guy is shrewd. He knows how to play the system.

Thats just like the shitty meme where people say that America is trillions in debt. Do you actually know why? Like, basic high school econ? We are in debt because we use a fractional reserve banking system. Wikipedia says the following "Fractional-reserve banking is the practice whereby a bank accepts deposits, and holds reserves that are a fraction of the amount of its deposit liabilities. Reserves are held at the bank as currency, or as deposits in the bank's accounts at the central bank. Fractional-reserve banking is the current form of banking practiced in most countries worldwide". This is also the system our government uses. We "borrow" money (just printing it and using it) and use it, trusting that it will keep its value. As it stands, the dollars value is on par with other currencies like the euro and pound sterling (the pound is worth around 1.50$, the euro is .93$, so we are actually stronger than the euro) so we can still trade with others because our dollar is worth what it is.

This also means that our economy is worth as much as our debt (gee, real complicated). more wikipedia: "The United States is the world's largest national economy, representing 22% of nominal global GDP and 17% of global GDP (PPP) . The United States' GDP was estimated to be $17.710 trillion as of Q1 2015." I just checked the US debt clock, and man, the proof is in the pudding. It says for current GDP (gross domestic product, the sum of all the earnings of our citizens for one year) we are at 18.157 trillion and for our debt we are at 18.6 trillion (we do actually have some debt then, but nowhere near what people say we do).

We also have the largest holdings of gold in the world. We have 288 million ounces of gold with germany as the runner up with 119 million ounces. It's not like we're struggling. Our gold reserves alone are worth 313 billion, which is nearly enough to pay off all of our debt in one fell swoop.

Most people are only in it for the dank yearly paycheck. 400,000$ per year for the president, plus 50,000 for random shit (listed as expenses), plus free, absolutely grade A no holds barred healthcare coverage (they literally have a staff of people at the white house just for the president's medical needs), 202,000$ per year every year after they leave office until they die (except it's taxable). Plus, the fact that you were the president opens up so many possible avenues for making money. Public speaking is HUGE (clinton made 10 million from it), they dont have to worry about needing anything because they just tell a runner boy to go grab them coffee or a filet mignon or whatever other expensive crap they want and they just go right ahead and provide it, and you get a team of armed bodyguards watching for anyone trying to do anything even after you leave office.

Why would you vote for someone who is ignorant about many things for which he is campaigning for? I've heard the man say many times he will "learn it" while he's in office when questioned about topics related to the job title. That is a joke.

The most sane person in this whole race is Bernie Sanders.

 

I estimate that 50% of his supporters are voting for him just to see what would happen if he really did become president. Other than using their power to vote irresponsibly I don't blame them because it sounds amusing. I highly doubt he'll become the Republican nominee, though.

Unrelated, but I wonder how much a president's proposed economic policies actually affect the system in the end.

 

It's very slim since almost every decision by the President is voted on. I'd eat my shoe if the propositions of Bernie Sanders come to fruition if he does become President in the end.

 

Yeah, there'd be a war in congress over Bernie Sanders unless both the house and the senate have a significant liberal majority (which would be quite the shift).

This is absolutely wrong on every level... You think people want to run for office because of the money? Do you really think they would invest their entire being into becoming the president for financial security and a nice salary? It's actually pretty fucking hard to enjoy that salary when you're one of the busiest men in the world. Holy shit, there are a countless number of ways to make that much money that are far, far easier than becoming president of the United States.
