Premier League 2016-2017

Didn't realize you were from US, thought you were in Manny. Going away tops everything IMO.

I wish I was there bro. It sucks being an American that loves all things soccer/football. Most fans here if they do watch are just casual and don't really know much about the sport. Honestly I had no idea the history United had when I became a fan during that Arsenal/United game. I just liked their name / logo / crest and was a big fan of Diego Forlan. Just kind of stuck with them since. My Dad is an Aston Villa/Tottenham fan so I always root for them to do well. You'd think I'd hate City the most but it's actually probably Chelsea or Liverpool.

It's similar here but on a lesser scale, more traditional here then US I would say as there are a lot of oldschool fans moved over from the UK - especially here in Perth.
Your old man can't support Villa and Spurs - that's not a thing. Not like it's his local non-league club that he just goes to watch because they're local and cheap.

Well he grew up a Villa fan as a kid but when he started watching the Premier League again he naturally gravitated to the Spurs.

From memory Villa have been in the top flight more then not over the last decade.
This is not traditional! haha. It's Spurs, not /the spurs/.

Interesting, I'm like 90 percent sure some American commentators have called them that (adding 'the' in there), probably where I picked up that habit.

A huth own goal in the last 5 minutes of normal time for the scum to get up... really?

Fucking up for the scum coming to Lane this weekend. Arguably one of the biggest game ever at the Lane considering it's likely to be the last ever derby pending the decision whether or not to go to Wembley next year or the year after due at the end of this week.

I think we will absolute do a number of them, purely looking at their recent form; I think City got very unlucky not to win hitting the bar multiple times etc and then last night winning from the OG...

Well and truly time to liven up this thread :) One of the most complete and dominant performances I've seen by us in arguably the biggest game ever at the Lane. I have never felt this before, but today from the off - I never felt like we were going to lose to that scum.

With both the Manny clubs dropping points as well, it was there for the Woolwich to claw back some ground but they are a bottlejob.

To be fair you guys play really good football and I love Eriksen, but you guys just choke in the title race.
You need to learn what choking is to be honest we were 2 wins behind you going in to the Westham game and never on top - that's not bottling it. I'm not even salty by the way as I feel less and less invested in Tottenham as the game is modernized with BS modern PR narrative like this as well us leaving the Lane.

As for doing nothing in Europe - Was still in this decade when we go to Semis of CL against Real after beating Milan, Inter after the season they won it.

Getting trolled by Spurs? The last 2 years is where I've been trolled least by Spurs and I feel the term 'Spursy' has applied least of all my time following...

No personal beef to you BTW, not salty - just feel this is a classic response from someone influenced by modern narrative produced by media etc.

United Mourinho is just a massive suckfest with the media this season. Pogba has been average, makes sure he does a skill or two every game to get noticed - let's not forget they bought him back for ~90m odd.

United try to justify that theyre not doing shit by creating this new 'top 6 race' to disguise the reality they may not make top 4 again. Then Mourinho rests players in EPL for Europa league to further justify saying we value that competition more.

I am calling it now United will get in final with OL and park the bus then Pogba will score some lucky goal and Jose and United will make spin the lines of 'this is why we bought him'.

1 month down the track and you can see i picked the narrative already

Cept they didn't park the bus much today, Ajax was just dominated on all fronts.

I'll take a Europa League title over Top 4 (minus finishing first). Don't even need to go through UCL qualifying stage with a Europa League win.

S/o @Azie

If United had gotten a vintage Rashford to show up this would have been a 4-0 drubbing.

Next year the expectations will be a lot higher. A lot higher. Compete for the league crown for one, and a respectable showing in the Champions league.

I'm sure they'll try to drop disgusting amounts of money in the summer window as usual.

All I'm saying is at the end our season turned out better than tottenham, city, liverpool and arsenal.

Also.. greizmann will be the start of our next season and much more.

United did park the bus a bit after they got the lead but let's be honest, most teams do that when they get a lead in Cup finals. It's just how it goes.

I was referring just to the narrative - united getting to final, pogba scoring a lucky goal - media narrative in full spin RE 'why we paid big bucks and got railed by riola for him'

Lol I agree with that. Still though, 3 trophies is pretty good. Even if I do consider 2 of them mickey mouse trophies. I do think Europa League is quite big though because it's their first time ever getting it. Would have liked to see them beat better teams to get it though. Their lead up to the final were all garbage teams and a lot of them pushed United.

I can be realistic, I know that they're a good distance away from winning the league and competing in champions league. Their level needs to rise significantly, and parking the bus doesn't really work vs those better teams.
