Tbh, you can still get a high post count w/o spamming.
Watch me get over 2k posts before Easter, less than 1% of my posts would be considered spam.

As for the analogy, I'm fairly sure it stands true, otherwise there wouldn't be "your a newcomer you go first"

I have just over 300 posts and personally I even think that's quite a lot for like 6 months. Everyone says I'm untrusted because I have 300 posts although I've done around 2k in trades on sythe.

People have always spammed to get their post count up... The issue is that mods tend to only view a few sections each... so what you may see as spam the mods are only seeing 1-2 of the 20-30 posts.

I personally like to work of join dates or try to work a balance between activity and join date...

edit: i am more concerned about the people getting away with DOUBLE Quadruple posting bumps and whatnot in the wow markets... This where spammers seem to be generating their posts...

Yes; sometimes I saw some selling topic's with pages full of the simple word "bump"...
The join date and the vouches, and previous sell topics, are usually the things I look at when I trade.

Post count doesn't really worry me at all. If i see spam i report it but other then that i dont really mind the people that just post comments that relate to topic just to get post count. I admit i do it sometimes like when i was almost at 1k posts but thats about it really.

So pretty much what your saying is you dont like it when hundreds of people post on a promotion thread saying congratulations? because they are all giving the same message really but its not spam.

you're right, this is getting kind of ridiculous, it only takes one post to let someone know they are doing something against the rules. not 40 people spamming them

Because people think that the more posts you have the more trusted you are. Which can be a factor in how trustworthy a person is, but I personally don't have many posts but I'm a trusted seller in my line of selling. People spam those types of threads for post count to be well "trusted." In the end they just scam someone.

You people all take post count waaaay too seriously. It's just a number that inaccurately shows how many posts you've made on this forum (due to the fact that when you post in the spam forum, it doesn't count towards your post count) and shouldn't mean anything. People who base trust on post count and then get scammed learn a valuable lesson, and move on.

Hell they should just straight up remove it from the forum skin.

Maybe I do post too much...

Usually I only post if I'm like the first or second person to hop on someone for posting a thread in the wrong place but I typically provide a link on where it should have gone..I'm on sythe a lot and I do tend to get the first post on such threads (in certain sections) quite often.
