Agreed, I've been watching this thread get bumped and hoping Sythe will just pop in and tell us Matthew's coded it or something D:

 

I've PM'd Richard a few days ago, so hopefully he takes a gander at the resounding and unanimous want/need for this update.

Support, awesome feature for a gaming site. Maybe during Sythe events have certain legendaries that can only be obtained during those events?

 

Roary has communicated hope for this suggestion, a post he made a while ago suggests richard/matthew might be currently looking into implementing this update (Y)

Supports, would be a nice little-big feature to help differentiate Sythe from other forums, and it would be quite entertaining.

Hell, if worthwhile enough rewards are implemented with the game, it's possible these Pokemon would come almost like a virtual currency within the forum.

You have my support, voted yes, although I do think collecting all the pokemons would be really hard (I guess thats the point) Nevertheless, would love to see this go through.

 

Indeed, this game would take the most dedicated of active users to complete, and I think that's what makes it a long-lasting source of fun. No one besides like FireZ or Gohan with their 25K+ post count would have a prayer of actually being able to collect EVERY pokemon in the near future. And even then, any user can still collect them all whether by catching them with pokeballs or trading for them using the sythe currency or pokemon-for-pokemon trades.

Therefore, it gives users something to actively work towards for months or even years, and there's still the gratifying progress they could be making in the meantime. Just the right amount of work and play

Love the idea, I hope it's possible programming wise. Also, 5 seconds seem a bit short, especially for those who sythe on a phone.

I know this is out there, but what about making some pokemon only available from certain parts of the world? Like if you're in the North America, you can catch a Mew, but European IPs can't but instead can catch Mew2? (And Asia has something else, and Oceania something else, ect) I feel that by adding this feature, it would make becoming a master much harder and it would force people to trade to complete the pokedex, just like in the real games. I think it would be best if the location specific pokemon were only legendaries, that way they're even more special. Occasionally, each part of the world could have their specific legendary pokemon shifted to a different one so it isn't too impossible.

 

I think it would be an over-complication that would just hinder the trading aspect for legendaries.

People probably aren't going to accept any number of non-legendary pokemon to trade for a legendary. They'll either be looking to trade for one they don't have if they happen to have duplicates, or just sell it for cash if they're looking to profit instead of collect. Therefore, the less people with access to the legendary pokemon respectively, the less people there will be who can buy and sell... I don't know if I'm getting my point across very well, it just sounds like it'll restrict the Supply aspect of the economy without doing anything to raise the Demand.

 

I thought people might trade legendaries for legendaries since I envisioned that the pokemon master minirank could be obtained by simply owning each pokemon at some point, not necessarily all at the same time.

 

I don't have an opinion on how one should earn the pokemon master rank, but I myself would want to own ALL the legendaries at the same time just to say that I have them, but I'd never dream of spending money on it myself. I'd trade if I ended up with two of the same legendary of course, but the likelihood of that is very low if rarity means anything

That's not to say no one is willing to spend money on it, in fact, I'm sure a majority of the users would consider spending money on this minigame should it be released. A lot of users have shown zeal when it comes to buying and selling miniranks, so I can see that easily transitioning into the willingness to invest in pokemon too
