Players Attitudes Degraded

I already knew that a lot of players on runescape had terrible attitudes but logging on to train my defense for the first time in 6 weeks has brought it all back. Twice was my training spot crashed and immediately upon me querying them they rage and hurtle abuse at me. I couldn't care less what they say but it saddens me that the player base has sunken this low. What happened to the gentlemen that I occasionally used to meet and they would apologize and pursue another world?

One thing that I find amusing though is that back with the profanity filter update Jagex announced that it was to appeal to the older players who supposedly make up majority of the people that play RS. It seems it was merely to appease all the trolls however.

Honestly, the Runescape community has changed. People (Not everyone) used to be polite and generous, now people have become very rude and it really sickens me tbh :\

 

The RS community has definitely turned to shit over the last few years. I remember long ago when everybody talked to each other when they trained, and would be polite about not taking other peoples spots and would often switch worlds when asked. Like you said, nowadays everyone will just crash your spot and troll you.

This is why I either bot, or when I'm playing legit, I turn my public off, which is pretty sad.

 

I, for one, actually didn't mind the profanity filter when I played Runescape legit -- I can't remember a time 3-4 years ago when another Runescape Player who is better than me said something like "cunt, you suck at rs. go play hello kitty or something gay like that" or when a player who has played less says something like "omfg, get a life nerd, never get laid, prolly 50 years old still plays runescape, gf nerd"

 

Yeah them days are most definitely over. The main time you find this problem is when mining.. I end up just finding another world myself and save myself the type-ache

 

not everyone in the world is nice, and when i played rs if i could gurantee stealing a kill i would, it just made it faster for me. if they didn't like it they could leave or get stronger. TLDR get over it.

 

Yeah it wouldn't happen 3-4 years ago but if you try and say anything it turns into a verbal fight. If you are wealthier than someone, you are a RWTer. If you have better stats than someone, you are a botter. If you have less wealth or worse stats than someone, you should quit RS apparently.

OT: I know exactly what you mean i was in the wildy today and i saw a kid that was 1 iteming with a msb ect (3 items i guess) and he went to attack this obby mauler that had like 20 def or something, and as soon as he hit him he's like "Fucking 2k11 prod" like what the fuck?

Sick of all the young kids and trolls that play Runescape, i enjoyed the game for the 1st few years when i started playing but now, i rarely get on my own account just due to the shittyness of the game itself.

 

I agree that many people have horrible attitudes on the game now. It's all about trolling to be "cool" on Runescape nowadays, which is quite sad honestly. There are still plenty of nice people though, you've just got to look passed all the little kids trying to act tough.

 

I remember when people took the time to be kind, make friends and even go out of there way to help you. When I first started I had so many people walk up to me and just hand me armor sets and weapons while I was training. It wasn't anything extremely pricey but they didn't have to go around giving noobs free stuff. Now it's just about pixels and most people don't care about being social or kind because they are behind a computer screen.

 

Unfortunately this seems to be an issue in nearly every game now a days.
Don't know what's so appealing about being a dick. But i've just about quit online gaming.

 

Agreed, community has gone to shit a long time ago. I did meet a few nice people on there though. The more mature players still exist, you just gotta find 'em.

 

This is nothing recent. The attitudes of people seemed to go south dramatically when the wild was taken out. I miss the old days :/

Yea, its rare you find people worth talking to. When you do its nice, then a noob comes along and ruins it... ugh...

You know my stance on the issue, when i first played runescape it was in what is now known as classic and people were straight out friendly, i dont know why/when the internet suddenly became full of assholes and trolls it seems to be the early 2000s but it has ruined any camaraderie within any game i have ever played since. I hate to be a sentimental "good ol days" type but the fact is i came into playing runescape as a 11/12 year old and was still accepted even though (lets face it) I HAD to be an annoying little "noob" but i was still helped and accepted. Those truly were the days, sadly nowadays when im not botting i too turn off my chats. People ITT thread are acting as though this is a runescape only predicament which its not, every online game is full of trolls nowadays, being cruel on the internet has become en vogue you could say, its treated as though it were cool by some people. i was pking on a f2p r2h'er the other day and while selling my loot i literally saw people recruiting for a "trolling clan" i asked what do they do any they said they team up on people one of the clan mates mentions until they log or rage quit ..

 

You'll always find this on F2P games. Runescape is aimed at an age group that is rapidly changing, and the attitudes in children are getting worse. If you want a pleasant environment to game in, you're better off playing WoW or Rift.

 

I have one of those Achievement Banners - the ones that you buy for 900 Runecoins from Solomons General Store and every time someone will comment saying how shit my stats are because I have no 99's.

This games community is horrible now, especially because if you don't have any 99's you're considered a noob LOL. Everyone comments about it to me, low levels, maxed players, EVERYONE. This is pathetic, it doesn't bug me though because that's what your ignore list is there for.

 

Yes. I feel that the Call of Duty community has changed heeaaaps as well with trick-shotting and everyone trying to become a youtube star.

 

ive always found rs to have a horrible base of players personally. I havent played steadily in over a year. N when i do its in the wildy pking or staking. id have to say that mostly i meet decent people in either of those places. Good fight ect... and mutual respect after killing one another

Runescape isn't the only game that's suffering dickish behavior. Try playing a Call of Duty game without having your mom be a 400 Pound monster with saggy tits.
