I have decided to go through with my transaction of RS account buying on PA. However, the seller failed to tell me that all of the rare items he described in his description are in his bank. His bank has a pin, of which he supposedly forgot, and it will take 6 days for the pin to reset.

I was quite nervous at this as I only have 3 days given by PA to check the account before it is officially mine. So I decided to call a refund. He was quite rude and vague when it came to our message interactions and I has officially lost confidence.

So I called the refund and the seller challenged that I could have the refund if I changed the email for the account to him.

So I did. My mistake was that I didn't take a screenshot of the process. Now he is claiming I didn't change it to his, and has changed the password for the account. This is not true as when I try to password recover the account, the correct email was his. I recorded it, but the seller called it fake and asked for a screenshot of when I changed the email to his.

Now I am worried that PA will think I changed the account's email myself to another email I own. It is the 2nd day and still no response from PA. I longer trust the seller to negotiate with him directly.

Is there any way I could turn this to my favour? (Who do you think PA will side with?) or, is there a way I can confirm I changed the email back to his with a screenshot?

Thanks for any kind of help. I have definitely learned my lesson about using PA though.

This is obviously PA's fault for not realizing a bank pin was set on the account and not knowing the pin!

You were wrong to contact the seller upfront however and change the email to his without reaching out to P.A first but man I have no idea how you're going to prove all of this, good luck and try not to be so naive next time

Take this to the grave when buying accounts. No matter the site, the method, the amount involved in purchasing a Runescape account it can always be recovered. No matter what information you are given, and no matter the assurances, you will always be vulnerable to a recovery.

If you're wanting to buy an account, forget the different websites and such, buy an account of someone you can fully trust, and know that recovery would never occur. Such sellers are on Sythe (IMO), they are, Video, Snow Patrol and KMJT. Look them up, and you'll see they've sold accounts totalling over $50,000 (in particular Video).

Personally, If you're after an account that will always be yours, bot it.

In regards to PA assisting you, keep contacting their live support / their PR person(s) on this forum. I've never bought/sold an account via PA, so I'm unsure in regards to the stipulations at hand.

In your opinion, do you think I have a good chance?

Dispute Comment: I am escalating this challenge because I am unable to confirm the validity of the sellers account description. This leaves me unable to be sure that what I am buying is 100% as the seller has described. The seller presumably has agreed with me in his challenge that I could have a refund if I changed the email of the account back to his. The seller has already received back his email for the account and that is complete as the seller now has the full ability to change his account information to one that is secure.

Challenge Comment The Buyer now has full access to my account I had up for sale. The items are still on the account and the password has not been changed although I can not change the password because the email address is set to his Email. Through the process of filling out the information so that the buyer could verfy the account, the email was asked to be set to his email (As your rules go). So I want him to send an email back, and re-set the email to my current Email address which is - [email protected] Otherwise, he should take full responsibility of attetmpting to scam, and I should recieve the money, and he can keep the account.

In your opinion, do you think I have a good chance?

Yes, the PA guy who helps here on sythe is quite helpful, I'm sure he would assist you if you could prove ANY sort of proof at all

Edit: you should be able to get a refund, if they deny you this and then personally I wouldn't care and I would escalate it with paypal/my bank because thats just a flat-out scam.

You can also see from his second comment, he's just trying to convince PA that you scammed him and not the other way, which is just pathetic IMO, I believe you and goodluck, keep us updated.

inb4 the PA Representative replies to this thread :)

@violent kudos

Guyz (and gurlz), I'm not a "representative" of PA, I am the actual Managing Director.

PlayerAuctionsPR is an old name I registered a long time ago back when I was in the marketing team. I would have registered "PlayerAuctions" but someone mysteriously already has that account name (hmmm?).

@OP
You've seen me post here before, so it is beyond me why you created a thread instead of PMing me in the first place. Would have been faster for you to get a response.

And after just seeing this: http://www.sythe.org/13082952-post22.html

This tells me that you were already aware of me.

Guys, I wasn't born yesterday. I've been at this for 5 years now, and I respond best to honest, and reasonable individuals. This smells of intentionally making your issue public and "stirring the pot" to curry public favor for yourself. This does not work with me. I have intentionally, and publicly denied people "service" for doing this when the facts spoke clearly that they were in the wrong. (I'm not going to be a douche to an honest party just because another tries to drum up support for themselves).

Many times this can also boil down to miscommunication or misunderstanding between parties. This is why we have the private dispute process, and finally the manual arbitration process. The seller is not here to explain his side or defend himself. This is frankly unfair to him, and not how our system is intended to work anyway.

That being said, PM me with the details, and I'll have a look. But you haven't done yourself any favors by doing this, and frankly, I'm a little disappointed. (I will say however, that everyone has a chance to redeem themselves in my eyes).

At the end of the day, it is either a miscommunication, misunderstanding, or someone is lying (in which case our in-house counsel will deal with it).

I gotta change my username.

Buying accounts is a no win situation. There isn't any way for PA to protect you when you are buying an account, EVER.

Not sure how you could assert that, after my response to you:
http://www.sythe.org/13007553-post4.html

Annnnnnnd, I replied to you here but got no response:
http://www.sythe.org/13080567-post12.html

Hmmm. Want to get in touch with me directly?

inb4 the PA Representative replies to this thread :)

Gentleman & fair ladies, I'm not a "representative" of PA, I am the actual Managing Director.

PlayerAuctionsPR is an old name I registered a long time ago back when I was in the marketing team. I would have registered "PlayerAuctions" but someone mysteriously already has that account name (hmmm?).

@OP
This is not cool.

And after just seeing this: http://www.sythe.org/13082952-post22.html

This tells me that you were already aware of me. You could have PMed me directly with your issue, and likely even gotten a faster response. But creating a completely unnecessary thread and talking your problem as if I didn't even exist is just... well... what is that?

The responsible thing to have done would have been to contact me directly for help. Not this:
Thanks for any kind of help. I have definitely learned my lesson about using PA though.

The issue isn't even concluded, and you're making grand statements about "lesson learned about PA" even before I could try to render support. Guys, am I wasting my time here? Because if stuff like this continues, I might as well exit Sythe entirely to prevent encouraging this kind of behavior.

On to your issue:

Honestly at this point I would just force chargeback and take the ban at playerauctions if they aren't willing to rf you.

I hardly think asking advice from a knowledgable community on the subject I need help with is any way of trying to "curry public favour" and I myself am shocked that you would make this kind of accusation against me considering I have not let out any kind of intimate details about my dispute. (Name of seller, Order ID, etc)

I also think you don't understand my situation. I am a casual account buyer, unlike most people on Sythe. If a selling service gives me less than 100% satisfaction, what reason do I have to use it again? Especially considering we are dealing with real-world money here.

I believe that however, your posts above are simply a misunderstanding to my intentions, instead of some kind of censorship by PA. If you are a manager for PA and if the PR in your username truly does stand for Public Relations, try not to think that every displeased comment is a effort to undermine your business.
You're already doing better though than the douches at major corporations who don't give a shit to what people say, let alone respond. :p

@PlayerAuctionsPR -- The OP has a really difficult situation that he put forward. Anyone with experience dealing with Runescape accounts can see his predicament. As much as you claim your company can mediate these disputes fairly 100% of the time, the fact is, they can't. This is a dispute which comes down to hearsay. How can the OP prove that the seller has regained access to the account? How can anyone know who truly has control?

The people you employ to look at these disputes are, at best, as knowledgeable as people on Sythe.org in these disputes. However, there is the added fact that you have a financial incentive to deny the dispute. If you accept the OP's story, you have to give him a full refund, and you will likely not recover any of the commission from the seller (although you'd damn sure try). If you deny the OP's dispute, you keep your commission and the deal goes through. So, in the case where it's one party's word against another, your company is naturally directed towards one side (that which provides a profit).

It's not really your fault that Runescape accounts are always recoverable by the seller. It is your fault for providing false hope to the buyers, and acting as if these transactions are safe. You do ask for a lot of info from the seller, but that even with photo ID, you'd never be able to pursue them legally. Therefore, the only protection you have is that it would be difficult for a seller to pull the same scam twice.

You guys should really be ashamed of the way you advertise account sales. Are you just ignorant? You do realize that the seller, 2 months from now, or 2 years from now, can easily steal the account back from the buyer, right? Where do you outline this risk?

Thank you for the nice response pleasent, anyone working with PA especially this manager guy will come on here and only talk good news about his employer, i've not once seen him speak of any mistakes. the site is crooked, what can you do.

You're already doing better though than the douches at major corporations who don't give a shit to what people say, let alone respond. :p

1) I received your private message. You did not include any specific details, such as order ID, usernames, etc. etc.
  • This leads me to question your intentions further.
  • Are you a customer with a real issue, or a competitor?
  • If it were the former, you would have contacted me directly for help, since it was demonstrated that you were already aware of me that I have been actively helping members in this community

2) You're response demonstrates to me that you did not read my post carefully with regards to who I am.

3) I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that I think "every displeased comment is an effort to undermine...". You are welcome to provide example where this has been demonstrated previously. In fact to my knowledge, I can even think of a few occasions, where I have agreed with Sythe community members on some of our platform's shortcomings. (I'll go the extra mile and update this reply with citations).

But I do (still) question your intentions. A) no details provided in thread, or in your PM to me about alleged issue. B) Look how you ended your original post. (the issue hasn't been closed according to you yet, and you had opportunity to get direct help, but you didn't take it)

4) What logic is there, in asking people who are outside of the company for advice on an issue, when you have the opportunity to contact someone on the inside of the company (the Managing Director no less) directly for help as others have done?

Sythe has this as a privilege. So why did you not take it? And yet still, why are you continuing not to take it? I'd love to know how I'm expected to help with no details about your issue.

@rspleasant & nick 91
Not ignoring you guys. One of you has valid points which I'd like more time to respond to (it's New Years guys, I'd like to have a glass of mulled wine and watch an episode of The Next Generation) and the other is a bit off target, but I'll help out regardless.

Listen, I recognize the fact that sometimes communications in forums are "reactionary". Meaning (like Nick 91's comment), you see an issue of immediacy (this thread), but may have missed other interactions in other threads or forgotten others which you may have seen and are buried in other threads. I also recognize that my interactions with the Sythe community are actually quite a "new" thing.

You guys have been using PA since 2008, and wider adoption since 2011 (if I remember correctly) but for the most part we (PA) have been a bit silent. This is due to a number of reasons which, perhaps, I'll post an "inside history" about PA later. If you guys want to get to know me, feel free to browse through my other posts around on Sythe. I think most would agree that I am respectful, have good intentions towards individuals and Sythe as a whole, and am not as stoopid as I look

For the OP however. Not sure exactly what he's hoping to accomplish since he didn't reach out to me directly, and when he did, I didn't receive any details about his issue (so my hands are tied, despite my wanting to help).

As for the rest of you, I do welcome people to engage me and/or reach out to me directly for help. You'll get it.

cheers,
jake

I have bought from you guys on 4 different occurrences. Your guys' gold transfer is great, but the account part of your guys' business needs some work.

I get that it's tough and what not, but you shouldn't guarantee safety for the buyer if none is provided. I have bought 2 "PA Verified" accounts, both getting stolen back and no refund at all.

PM sent.

Hey BartonsVodka-

First, Bartons was my drink of choice during college. ::respect::

Second, I also work for PlayerAuctions. Not to tag team you guys, but I'm also available if anyone needs help. I'm an attorney who Jacob has managed to poach for PA, so Bartons- if you send me the details of the orders that were reclaimed, maybe I can help.

Finally, you guys are correct that it is extremely difficult to guarantee safety, esp for accounts. That's why it is important for buyers to purchase insurance. That's also why so many of our resources are spent tracking and preventing fraud. Actually part of my job responsibilities is to help prevent and manage instances of cyber fraud, up to and including taking legal action. So if anyone is legitimately scammed, feel free to PM me here (though I'm much more accessible via email: [email protected])

Cheers,

Sarah
