That being said, the mod and OMM ranks virtually go hand in hand, any user who qualifies for one likely qualifies for both, or at least makes the other much easier to obtain.
Also, I don't recall this being mentioned before, I get the feeling that there are currently too many OMMs and they are all inactive? The prestige behind the rank really is just fulfillment of expectancy theory backed up with harsh requirements. If people don't feel that the rank is coveted enough by those who have it, and the requirements are painstaking, there isn't much incentive to try.
Just to dispell this whole inactivity regulation stuff - there's not a strict policy on removal of the rank/underline symbol (used to show who the active middlemen are) and it is as follows -
3 months of not MMing (regulated by myself through posts on mm thread, vouches, etc.) = removal of underline that symbolizes whether a MM is active.
3 months of not logging on = removal of the rank itself
You may be asking why do we keep the one's who aren't active? It's because a lot of them are veterans who assist in the new voting system/discussion related to OMM discussion in the lounge itself.
As for the application and the whole issue with the section being dead - I don't think that's entirely true. When I was trying to complete my apps I would bust my ass when it came to MMing. Sometimes MMing a few trades at once, and I always tried to keep my application updated.
A lot of the applications aren't completely filled out but that's also because a lot of the trusted users can't be bothered with it. Which is totally fine, but those aren't people who want to become OMMs, which is their decision.
Again, I'm willing to change the application to assist with the difficulty to find such a single large trade, but I don't want to make it that much easier. The OMM rank is prestigious, you may say it's the same as a staff member rank but in my eyes it's not. Anyone can be a staff member, and I don't mean that in a bashing way at all. It's just that being an OMM comes with certain skills and knowledge in a specific "field" on Sythe
