I'm severely pissed right now and I honest feel I'm going to end up hurting somebody.

I'm in year 9 in school, and there's this guy in my year, lets call him Adam. He's fat, has curly hair and glasses and doesn't look very cool tbh, but he's reallyyyy funny and great to talk to. He can't defend himself. Ever since the start of last year, Adam's been bullied. He had to run from the bus stop to school every morning because otherwise he'd be jumped, and run from the school to the bus stop every evening for the same reason. This eventually stopped, but Adam was still being bullied by practically everybody in the school except me. He was also given a stupid nickname which he hates with a passion, but it stuck, and that's what he's known as by everyone now.

This year, the new year 8's came in. Adam was still being bullied, so bad that I took him into my own group of friends so that I could watch out for him. I've gotten in multiple mini-fights because I was trying to stop Adam from getting hurt. My own friends are even annoyed at me for inviting Adam to come with us at lunch and hang out with us because even they bully him sometimes. (not alot now, I've had words with them)

There's this guy who's come in, and he's abit.. how do I put this.. slow? Lets call him John. All the bullies see John as a pawn in bullyinh Adam, and are using him to their own advantage. This started off with the bullies sending John over to push or shoulder Adam, but it's been getting bigger and bigger. Today, me and my friends along with Adam were down town at lunch, and went to go over a bridge we normally walk over. We seen a big group of people at the other side, alot of them with mobile phones videoing what was happening, and as we crossed the bridge, the group, John in the middle of them being egged on, were also walking towards us. Suddenly John ran up and stood infront of Adam.

After a few seconds, John randomly hit Adam square in the face and began punching the crap out of him. Adams glasses fell to the ground (luckily I was quick to grab them before some ignorant bastard kicked them off the bridge or stood on them). John kept punching and kicking Adam and pulling his hair etc. Adam was defenseless and was having the crap beaten out of him as about 50 people cheered. I pulled John off Adam and dragged Adam aside and helped him up. As we began to walk away, John ran after us and the crowd followed. John kicked Adam to the ground and started kicking him and I pushed John back and told everybody to fuck off. The crowd dispersed and those who were left started cheering for John, and they all walked away laughing. Adam on the other hand lay moaning and crying on the ground with his nose bleeding.

Now you may just call me fucking crazy, but if you ask me, there's nothing funny about somebody as defenseless as Adam getting picked on so much, and the stupid bastards that think they're so tough using somebody like John who doesn't know what they're doing as a pawn. Adam was lying on the fucking ground, bleeding and everybody fucking laughs? I don't fucking get it. These bullies need to grow some fucking balls and stop all picking on the most vulnerable person in the school. Teachers have been told, and today after the above happened, John was suspended, but it's not going to stop everything. I try my best to help Adam, and I've been hit for it, but what happened today goes against everything I stand for and I really feel like hurting somebody.

Sorry about the long post, but if you could read it and give me whatever advice you can, I'd be grateful.

Ok, most of the time i don't like to "tell" on people, but when they do shit like that you pretty much have to. It may not completly stop, but when like all of them get suspended what else is there to do?

I know the logical thing is for Adam to tell. (when it gets this bad it's all you can do) He has, but the principal doesn't have enough evidence anything is happening to suspend everyone. The only reason she suspended John was because she saw a few kids watching the video and saw first-hand.

Could you like tape it next time or something? Idk about your school, but if we tell on someone they get a punishment no matter what haha.

Get Adam to report what has been going on. Advise him to write down exactly what happens to him as soon as possible and put the case to the police, along with witnesses.

Keep sticking up for him, try and get as many people to help you too. If anyone starts anything with him or attacks him, attack them back. It's obvious he can't defend himself and if no one stops people laying into him then he's going to end up really badly injured. I think that you need to put his safety before your own want to stay out of trouble with your school. As I said, he's going to get very badly hurt if someone doesn't stand up for him whilst something is being done. I know you might get in trouble, but won't you feel better knowing that he's safe and his life is a little bit better?

I guess the other danger here is that he gets depressed or tries to kill himself. Try and invite him round your house and just show him that he IS liked by people, and that not everyone hates him.

An easy way of telling the principal, and gather evidence would be to get one of those spy pens and tape the whole thing.

If that isn't an option I don't really have any other ideas. If more people in your school thought like you all you needed to do was get a big crowd and just cover Adam for a few weeks so the bullies would stop.

I'd honestly talk to the police. This is something that I cannot relate to, due to there's no bullying around here.

Does Adam talk to his folks about what's happening during his school day? Does his parents/guardians care? But yeah, I'd bring it to the police to help out. It's one of your only hopes right now.

Sadly, there's not really much that can be done. You could attempt to get Adam to tell the school authorities, but then he'd probably just be disliked even more for "snitching".

Has he ever told them to stop, or ever yelled at someone for their actions? I know some kids who were in somewhat the same boat, but just stayed quiet. If he spoke up, not to the school but to the actual people, it might do some good.

To be perfectly honest, if I were in your position I would probably be in trouble for smashing some kid's face in already.

I was thinking about what bad_moose said about him becoming suicidal and to be honest, he's quite down recently, and I hope he doesn't try anything stupid. My birthday is coming up, so I'll probably invite him and some of my other friends around and we'll go do something fun.

About the police thing, they were in school after it happened. (because the attack didn't happen in school, but on a public bridge.) I really hope they actually look into everything instead of just forgetting about it.

He's shouted at the bullies and told them to leave him alone etc, but other than that, nothing really.

I've been in trouble for hitting guys before because of what they've said/done to Adam, infact today after the incident I punched a guy in the face because he came up and started pushing Adam around after he got up.

About the me teaching him to fight part, I'm not a very strong guy myself. I can fight enough to defend myself, but I'm pretty tall and skinny and alot of people could toss me on my ass. But I do put his safety before my own in these cases.

I respect you more than you could believe for helping 'Adam'. However, I do think you need to talk to the school staff. Most people will say you are being a 'snitch,' but if it has gotten this bad, you need to talk to someone.

If nothing changes, go to the local authorities, they could be charged with domestic assault for this.

Please update me on what happens. I used to be in Adam's position.

First of all I'd like to say that I really admire you for what you've done, and that I'm glad to hear you stuck up for him. I've been in the same situation, and last year got into a fight with a team mate (my former best friend) in the locker room before a basketball game because of it. Although, I beat the his ass and embarrassed him in front of everyone, he's stopped bullying him. I'm still glad I chose what I chose, although it sucks because we were best friends.. However with the whole mob mentality, you can't exactly do that. I'd suggest filming it next time and showing the principle, and maybe even the police to let them know what's going on.

Go to the police next time. A nice unprovoked assault charge on John (if he does anything again) should make other people think twice about picking on Adam. Who cares if people call your friend names for "telling", he's already obviously not liked very much in your school. Teachers usually can't stop bullies but police can.

I would say ''LOL'' but really and truly this is a disturbing situation. you have a number of options,
1. Tell adam to start sticking up to himself.
2. (Although its shitty) tell adam to talk to a teacher, parents, police.

I know both these methods work as i cannot lie, during year 7-10 i used to be crazy and used to bully alot of people, (something ive stopped when i started noticing its sad tbh) , the first method helps as no one would bully someone who sticks up and fights for himself also the bully would notice that its no fun when that someone sticks up for himself.

The second option (although is very sad, and i personally hate it) works aswell, because ive had the police talk to me, teachers e.t.c and it worked before i stopped bullying that person e.t.c.

P.S. please no bullshit hate comments, or anything, yes i used to bully people, and yes i fucking grew out of it.

I just want to start off by saying I'm sorry man and this situation looks bleak but there are some things you can do to try to make the best of it.

First in his situation it wouldn't be a bad idea if you guys looked into some karate or other martial arts classes. I know some people are going to say "turn the other cheek" and all but honestly he needs physical protection fast. It doesn't sound like the teachers are much help so try as much as possible to just fade into the background until noticed. Tell him to try to be friendly but not be loud or really be the center of attention. Know people that age (Mine too ) normally things like these pass and come and can be over with in a month or two if you really just move to the shadows. Hopefully nothing bad happens again but if it does you can either:
A. Go to the police
B. Get out of there fast. If more people join in you will be in a lot of trouble since it will be 2 verses a good amount.

Not alot happened today, except Adams mom came into the school I suppose to talk about the incident (about time) but I'm not exactly sure and Adam isn't saying much. He's being teased abit now for getting beat up by a retard, but I've told him to just shake it off.

 

I am going to give you this advice from personal experience.
There was a guy in my school exactly the same, except it wasn't the whole school bullying him.
I introduced him to my group of friends (I used to play football with around half of my year so it was quite a lot) and he was good at football, so they began to like him. The other, people still bullied him though and it was only me and 1 of my friends who protected him.

We actually experimented with him once, the bullied wouldn't even come near him or say anything to him when he was with us, we told him to go and wait on the grass on his own, so he did. Me and my friend sat around the corner keeping an eye on him but we were hidden from site. The bullies came over as soon as they realised he was on his own and started hitting him. Me and my friend walked over and gave them a decent enough beating for them to get the message to stop.
But they didn't, they just got him when we weren't around.
I was teaching my friend a bit of Judo at the time because I am black belt, I was trying to make him more confident in defending himself.
Eventually we psyched him up enough for him to at least fight back a tiny bit.
The bullying gradually stopped.

You need your friend to fight back on his own, or the bullies will target him when you are never there to protect him.
Bullies target the weak, that's why they are so pathetic.

Edit: What I am trying to tell you is that it is best for your friend to fight his own battle (with you helping him along the way).

heartless fuckers if you ask me, but get adam to carry a knife and pull it out when them cock knockers think it's funny but since he's weak or whatever, he may get it took of him and get stabbed so wouldn't recomend it but you should carry one, but don't think of stabbing anyone just pull it out and be like, "touch him and you're getting stabbed, now fuck off".
