Obama or McCain?

[The Fat Controller]

McCain, I was born and raised republican. Sure I don't agree with everything he has to say, but I certainly support the war in Iraq. It's funny how people are so willing to leave Iraq yet what happens if the taliban regain power in Iraq, then what?

I think your point about the Taliban regaining power in Iraq tells says a lot...

He just says change..what are they expecting?

http://www.barackobama.com/index.php ... That maybe? Somewhere on that site there's a massive pdf with details of his policy.

Obama is definitely the one I'd vote for. His policies are all quite agreeable, and universal healthcare simply makes sense to me, given that it's always served me well here in Europe.

Not saluting for National Anthem...

Not only is that bad, but he refuses to wear an American flag pin.... Something about him not wanting to choose international sides...

Supposedly, Obama was Islamic (Most terrorists are Islamic), but changed to Christianity. Apparently, when an Islamic man converts to another religion, he changes his name. Obama has not. There is also proof that he has some loose ties to some terrorist groups.

These are NOT cited from websites, it's just some stuff that I've heard. I am not sure if they are true or not.

The sad thing about the electoral system in the US is that voters make the decisions based on the candidate's character instead of the candidate's policy. Just because Obama doesn't put a show on of being a vicious patriot doesn't mean that you shouldn't vote for him if you agree with his policy.

And all the claims of terrorist links are complete bollocks. Character assassination is big business in the US, you're just repeating propaganda released by clients the opposition have paid to smear Obama.

First off, Obama was never "Islamic"(you mean Muslim). His mother's a Christian and his father was a Muslim. He has declared himself Christian from the start, he did not convert to Christianity.

Proof that he has some loose ties to terrorist groups? Where did you get that info?

I'm for Obama

[Christmas Crackers]

I expected the results to be heavily in favor of Barack Obama because, as a whole, those ages 24 and under are statistically much more Democratic/liberal

Obama > Mcshitter.

Mccain is an old bastard without real interresting political reasons to be eletected. In my opinion if you see the way he's running his campaign he looks like a Jr. Bush.

Obama has spent time with his giant campaign to think threw what he does, where he goes. I'm not American, Canadian (for the win) but Obama is deffinetly the best canidate to help the war.

[justafan]

Although I don't like either one of the canidates I still prefer McCain over Obama. For the people that tried to say that Obama was never a muslim, by agreeing and stating the fact that his father was a muslim just makes him a muslim. The way that the Islamic faith is driven is irregardless what your mother is your father's religion determines the children's religion. So even if Obama never agreed with any of the rules of Islam he was still a muslim. With his denying that he is just lying like all other politicians because that looks bad but anyone who has studied the religion will understand that he was a muslim but is not anymore. Don't bother arguining it its not worth it...

Nextly Obama may be against the war in Iraq right now but that doesn't matter. Even if he gets every last trooper out of Iraq by 2010, hell even 2009, that won't matter when he surplusses the troops in Afganistan. And if you don't know, Afganistan is the one place most troops do not want to go. Iraq is like damn this is boring as fuck, Afganistan is like I hope I don't get sent there... Of course North Korea would be even worse, and I'm sure that we as a nation will eventually need to go there to ease everything off and then whoever is in office is gonna get made fun of because he will supposedly be a "failure" even though he is only doing what he needed to to protect the country as best as possible.

Throwing all of what I believe aside even if Obama has the support of every last citizen in the nation I doubt it will matter. As I'm sure you may have heard your vote doesn't count and it never will... Many people don't realize this but even if a canidate wins the popular vote, that doesn't mean that they are elected. The election goes by Electoral College votes which are determined by a few representatives from each state. These representatives are elected and they usually go along with the popular vote however they are not required to and even if a canidate wins every single popular vote, they could still lose the election if the EC doesn't vote for him. There is no doubt in my mind that Obama will not win the EC votes. He is just too edgy for the government to accept as the commader of our military and thats why he will fail. The "changes" he speaks of will never happen because although he boasts a lot there is no way he will ever get any of that done in office, he doesn't realize the responsibility that the President needs to have in order to run effectively and if he does attempt any of these changes he is only going to throw our country into a downward spiral until we either do go into a second great depression or we will re-establish a civil war between the republicans and the democrats. Of course this is only going to happen if he is actually true to his word which almost no politician is...

[shakaka]

McCain. And he will win.

The reason is this; after people are selected to represent their party, they start to go toward the middle. This is to make you look like the better choice to the other party.

For example, when McCain was running for the Republican nomination he showed his very far-right views to gain the vote of far-right people. However, when he won it, he started to drift in the middle.

The reason McCain will win is because HE made the drift, but Obama didn't. This means Obama will not appeal to the republican party at all.

Another reason is, and I saw a comedian say this but he makes a good point. For Obama to win, they have to make people who voted for George, vote for Obama. I'm not stereotyping republicans , but seriously; a black man was not the best choice.

McCain will win, and I want him to win. He obviously knows that we need to get out ass out of Iraq, but he also knows that just pulling out wont work.

He also understands that the only way to pull our country out of this economical recession is to drill for oil in Alaska, and ignore the damn environmentalists.

I agree with him. You people aren't thinking, "no white no black, America". In case you haven't noticed Obama doesn't show respect to the US. And his wife said something along the lines of "This is the first time I've been proud to be an American", etc. Besides, realistically, there is a high chance he will be assassinated. =|

[dragoon_212]

why would we vote for obama. I know most of you would say "ITs time for a black president!" i understand your point but Obama has had NO previous political intelligence Mcain on the other hand has been doing this his whole life.

I completely disagree with you when you say our votes don't count. Firstly, both candidates CHOOSE those representatives who will vote in the Electoral College should that candidate win the state. Therefore the candidate chooses representatives from each state who he KNOWS will vote for him in the electoral college if he wins said state.
You cannot simply state that our votes do not count when the representatives in the EC(over 90% of them) vote for the candidate that won the state they speak for. The popular vote decides the electoral vote.
And don't bring the Bush Gore election into this, the events that occured are STILL under investigation(ie Florida votes), and Gore won the popular vote by the slightest margin.

Besides that you made some very valid points.

I respect your opinions as well anyways I wasn't specifically talking about the whole gore thing I was mostly referring to when John Quincy Adams lost the popular vote to Andrew Jackson in 1824 but still won the election, and when Hayes lost the popular vote to Tilden in 1876, and yes Gore did win the popular vote over Bush in 2000 but that's not as big as some of the others. The last election like this was pretty close, but in anycase even if the EC representatives are from say a republican state that was won over by that canidate, the EC representative can still choose to vote democrat even if he and his state are republican. Also the canidate doesn't get to pick the representatives, they are nominated by the state's political party but as you know with Ron Paul, who claims to be republican and is really not for anything the republican party should stand for... Then again the republican party isn't anything like it used to be... Anyways yea it's not like the EC doesn't usually go with the popular vote, but they can flip flop if they want and there is nothing to stop someone from being nominated as say a democrat rep and they in turn voted for the republican canidate.

[AwaKen_Wut_U_Doing_Here]

McCain, because I'm in premed and don't want to see universal healthcare.

That's selfish.

[Christmas Crackers]

Those voting for Obama, can you explain more in depth WHY you are voting for him instead of giving me one sentence answers that don't convey any sign of intelligence?

[jebadiah the wise man]

Personally I'm with Obama, because, although I agree with our involvement in the Middle East, I do not agree with the way it has been handled. The way it's been handled is not solely the fault of Bush, but the whole Republican Party, and although McCain claims to be more moderate than other Republicans, it's time for a change.

i agree with that view 100%
everyone talks about how bad bush is, but there is more than one person that runs the country.
