Just wondering, how come the Browns picked up Manziel for their first round pick and not play him?

Probably a development thing. QBs seem to be better if they can sit at least half a season - 1 season to get the playbook, some confidence, tutelage etc under their belt. I actually thought they'd do the typical Browns thing and mess it up but they're keeping him on the sidelines which is a good thing imo.

Yeah I guess, there were a good number of rookie QBs who had potential but were stuck in bad teams who had no patience (Brady Quinn from Browns for example a while back, was supposed to be the "new Tom Brady")

Yeah QB hands down has to be the hardest position to play. Knowledge of the playbook, ability to read defenses, pocket awareness, accuracy, power, poise, quick thinking, scheme etc all come into play and it's just so many factors that contribute to the large number of bust QBs in the league.

Out of curiosity what do you reckon would be the second hardest position to play? Third?

Well it's hard to know what a good quarterback is when you have Peyton Manning breaking all these records. After you see people like him playing (Brady, Rogers, Brees, etc.) your good quarterback standard goes up. So, everyone else seems much worse.

Don't wanna rush him into a system he's not ready for. Would ruin him as a QB. Gotta ease him in nicely/slowly.

You know what a good QB is by just watching them. No need to really compare someone to someone else to see if they're good :p you can just tell by their gameplay.

Statistics prove all in my opinion. Shows the stability of a quarterback through all his games, not just his good ones.

Yes, but let's say hypothetically this year all the QB's threw 45 Tds, and had 5000+ yards with 3-5 interceptions. Would you consider someone like Brady good anymore when he gets 40 Tds and 4000 yards?

Only stat that matters is a Win. I'd rather take wins over 4,000 yards a season. Usually the good QB's have stats, but the great ones have wins.

    Yes because he wins.

Any good games this weekend? Haven't looked at the matchups yet.

    Bears-Packers is always interesting.

-.- I'm just trying to get at the fact the "good" is relative to what everyone else is doing.

The baseline for what is good has already been established by QBs in the past. Conversely if the whole league threw 10 TDs and 20 Ints for 2000 Yards the whole season then we'd all say they're terrible since we've got the benchmark of previous QBs to go by. Either way it's arguing over semantics and a hypothetical situation lol.

    Nice find!

This is very interesting to look at.

Saints v. Cowboys will be a good game I think.

Woops didn't see your post up here

2nd hardest position is probably cornerback (due to pretty much non stop running, trying to avoid penalties all the time, taking the blame if a receiver catches the ball or theres a pass interference call)

3rd is probably linebacker since you need to be good at covering, tackling, communication, etc.
