what the fuck are u guys doing
It makes sense to bring active admins into the fold, but I find it to be a weird concept.
To me, the below has always been the case:
Section Moderators are active members of the community with a degree of trust and have proven they're capable of moderating a section due to their devotion or intelligence.
Global Moderators are active members of the community with a significant amount of trust and have proven they're capable of handling and moderating the entire forum.
Administrators are owners of the website or people with a huge amount of confidence and authority that plan to contribute to the site's back-end by adding new features and making major site alternating decisions. They give out the announcements, expansions, and outrank decisions made by Global Moderators and Section Moderators.
Now these roles are altering in my mind. Individual Global Moderators will have a higher amount of trust and authority than others in their category, due to their proven ability to run an administrative position. Alternating ranks frequently are interesting because how long are they staying in the admin area before getting rotated out? Are they only getting switched if they're not contributing to the back-end development?
If they don't have time to contribute to the back-end development, then how would they have a chance to supervise the entire forum as a global? Why not keep them as administrators, but add a second mini-rank for the active back-end developers. At the end of the day, the ranks are to display authority, contribution, and permissions. I just feel like the rotating system is going to deteriorate how the community respects the position, rather than increase their regard to globals. I guess this is a good way for people to value individuals rather than ranks? It just feels like the structure is grumbling when positions are actively changing.
Overall, I'm just blabbing out my perspective. Congratulations Shin and Video!!! You both earned the position.
i dig it big rich
Seems weird to me but I probably don't get it. Grats guys.
It is a little weird to call it a promotion or demotion if they are to be regarded as equal peers. Hopefully the idea gets executed well.
Congrats @video, well deserved. You too unb4nn3d.
Congrats @Shin and @video best of luck to both of you!
