New High Dollar Donor Perks

I support some of these:

Current thoughts and ideas
Increased inbox space - FOR sure I do support this. Many of the larger donators, and people like myself, are constantly dealing with filled inboxes... this could be a nice perk.
Possibly scaling by amount donated (would require multiple donor usergroups be created)
"Upper" donor lounge - I'm already admin of the current one... So why not!
Remove/limit number of Ads - They don't bother me to be honest, so I don't really care.
Multiple UI's - What do you mean by this?
Customizable profile pages - This would be awesome if possible
Would be an idea for after VB4
Ability to create and submit own fun rank - This as well! I love this, I think that this could be a big perk for many
More/new thread icons - Vb4 maybe ?
Custom icons - Like emoticons?
Larger character limit for user titles - This could be cool, but I don't want it to big you know?
Ability to post on scam reports - Hmmm... Not sure how I feel about this.
Slightly larger avatar size limitations - I definitely like this!
Ability to upload own 150x100 avatar - This is not possible, I believe, in the current version of VB. Unless they have it custom coded, the last VB forum I ran I had to manually do it as we do now.
Larger Signature Size Limit - Not really liking this... Big signatures suck :s

As you may know, mod's can have 3 changing UI's. This simply means that higher donator's could have 2+ UI's.

Out of all suggestions so far, this and the bigger PM inbox suggestions are my favorite.

 

I think this shows too much favoritism to the "market giants". Basically this would privilege the successful and hinder the newer/less successful market entities. The richer get richer, and the poorer fall that much farther behind because they can't afford perks like these. The market should remain equal-opportunity.

 

How? Just because a thread gets deleted doesn't mean you can't still get proof of the scam. Most scam report proof is MSN chats and pictures of the trade, not anything to do with the thread. Anyway, if deleting a thread is a problem, allow them to do the other things and not delete their threads.

 

That isn't it. If you can delete people's post from your thread you can just go through your thread and delete any negative posts that could be a dissuading factor and can help prevent scamming. All of those could be easily abused and would impact the general populus of sythe negatively. You don't want someone moving their thread around all willy-nilly or going through and creating a bunch of threads and locking them. There just things that need to be left up to the mods. There is much too much chance of abuse.

 

A couple of those are on the DNS List, or are we permitted to suggest things from that list as a $300+ donor perk?

But to stay on-topic, I do support the following suggested perks:

-Increased inbox space

-"Upper" donor lounge

-More/new thread icons

-Larger character limit for user titles

-Slightly larger avatar size limitations

-Larger Signature Size Limit


Can't really think of any other benefits other then those.

Anyhow, support. These people are helping out the site a lot and deserve something in return.

 

They are good ideas also how about the ability to private message 10 people instead of 5 at a time. It's not really much of a perk but sometime I find i need to send private messages multiple times to a group of people.

It's already abused when people ask people to cross vouch on threads, for example

i agree with this. Seems like a lot lately the giants have been complaining about everything just to make it easier for them. It is a tad bit annoying. I know i probably wont be able to donate up too $300 any time soon as i have limited income but i still hope to in the future.

OT The bigger pm box is an awesome idea! Also the more/new thread icons would be neat.

they could have access to a premium sythe forum skin?

Just a different style from the current one, also if possible having there name on the bg at the top right? maybe there UI?

I'm sure any gfx artist could easily do that.

It wouldn't be seen by others, it's just cosmetic for personal use.

Some of these items are on the DNS list as they are already donor perks. There's no harm in suggesting ways to further expand on the current donor perks (such as larger inbox space)

 

say $500 + donated u get an apprentice MM image meaning you can offer middleman up to the amount you have donated. So if you have donated 500 you can offer MM service up to that amount.

This means you would be able to really move your vouches up and get a chance to prove ur worth to the community.

 

This is pointless. Anyone can MM any amount they want already.

 

He's talking like trade insurance which has been denied as a suggestion a few times.

 

Can we also suggest adding ex mods to a user group as well, because currently the only way to apply anything as an ex mod perk is to pm Matthew and this takes weeks if not months to be applied.

I don't know if we are still keeping it only one large thread per organization but I guess adding the ability to donate a certain amount can increase each large thread you can have. So like currently 1 is allowed/ organization maybe 2 can be allowed at $300 donation, 3 at $600, etc. I don't know how well this would work but its just a suggestion since most people who donate this amount are actively in the market.

 

I'll contact Matthew about your first concern. As for the suggestion, I'll add it to the list when I can.

 

I will second who ever said that this will only apply to big business leaders. some members here on sythe cannot afford to simply donate $300 because of their age or job (or lack of) therefor giving big businesses an unfair advantage.

However i dont think that these perks should be easily obtainable either. Maybe select more perks for different tiers of donations? with $300+ having the most advantages obviously.

Idk just my thoughts on this.

 

He's jut gathering a list of suggestions most will most likely not be approved but its nice to get community involvement on a future update for large donors.

 

This basically sums it up. I cannot personally promise nor guarantee that any of these suggestions will be approved. In the end, the ultimate decision is entirely up to Matthew. I'm merely trying to gather community input on the subject which I will then bring to his attention, with hopes that at least SOME of the ideas end up being utilized.

I would also like to add, not all high value donors are market giants / business owners. I can name a few off of the top of my head who are high value donors but not business owners / market giants. Myself, Djweasel, superman, and Travis, are ones I can recall off of the top of my head.

 

maybe a monthly raffle for all of the active high donators to try and win some of their money back..(im sure most of the really high donars would give their winnings back though)
