Need Xbox Live Help

Well I'm probably getting an Xbox 360 for Christmas, and my dilemma is getting Live.

What are the different methods of getting Live?

Can I use pre-existing Internet to access Live?

Do I need to have a Wireless Router to be able to play?

I have a desktop currently, so if there is a way to hook up my Xbox 360 to my pre-existing Hi-Speed internet by running a cable or some sort of plug-ins, please let me know.

I would like to avoid the Wireless Router if possible.

hook up the ethernet cord to your 360 and youll be fine. If you want wireless i think you need to buy the adaptor thingy.

And to get live itself its like 50 bucks a year and you buy cards and redeem it on your 360.

Okay but where does that Cat5 cable come from? Should I already have it?

Yeah should have it from the internet company you got it from, If you dont have that then your probably going to have to go wireless.

It doesnt have to be blue, I have many colored cables like that. It should come from a box most likely.
