My thoughts on 2007 GE.

It's to the point where I wouldn't mind it being added, here's why.

I've ALWAYS been against the GE, because it takes away from player interaction. Also, the nostalgic feels of trading in Varrok or Fally are nice, but let's face it, it's not the same anyway.

We have the "oldschool" style game, but it isn't the same. Although the game does need new and unique content, it just makes it feel like a whole new game to me, as to when "oldschool" was initially released.

I don't so much mind taking away from player interaction, as the community will never be as good as it once was.

I don't look forward to market manipulation, but meh, anybody can adapt.

I haven't casted a vote yet. What's your input?

I voted yes just because most of the people on the forums complained about it. I'd just love to piss them off and them throw a temper tantrum towards the OSRS team. Also, even though I quit, it would help players trade easier. I don't understand how people hate the G.E other than merching and this stupid player interaction thing. Merching will always be around and the current player interaction I get is "thank you" or "stfu fag".

I mean, I know why everyone is demanding for it to be released, because people are sick of standing around spamming for an item. But that's what the players demanded for when they wanted 07 back. Now if they go and release the G.E into the game.. I don't know, I feel like it will really dig a deep hole into the game. It feels to me as if the players are doing exactly what Jagex did with selling gold.

They vowed they would never sell their own gold XP. But they did the very thing when releasing the SoF and now Treasure Hunter.

The players wanted 07 back because EoC was fucked and was dying off, and all the veterans wanted to go back to how the good ol' days were. Jagex gave them that. And now those very same people, are demanding for them to release G.E into it, because they're over sitting in varrock spamming for items like they did back in 2007 when there WAS NO G.E PERIOD.

I just love watching how stupid the community is sometimes. I mean, they literally got on their knees and begged Jagex to release 07 because of how much EoC had ruined RuneScape. And then they get it. They love it, then it slowly dies off, and now they're demanding for updates that will clearly make them look dickheads if Jagex releases it because they were the ones in the first place demanding for something, and are now changing their mind.

I mean, G.E in 07? There was no G.E in 2007. Back in 2007 before G.E was even out, players didn't have the luxury to just spam the goddamn developers to release an update because they're over spamming for items? They had to wait for them to do it on their terms.

I mean, why demand for 2007 era of RuneScape to come back if you're just going to demand for an update that doesn't fit the game? If that's the case, why not beg for 2009 RuneScape or something...

 

The grand exchange caused the prices of items to crash. The number of sellers will rise significantly, while the number of buyers stays the same, if not decrease, causing the items to decrease in price because of shortened demand. Sellers will never be as significant because of the time it takes to sell items prior to the update. Because trading will be made much easier, you will see lots of items being flooded in the market. A lot of people are tired of looking for individual players to sell to and buy from, but at the same time they're throwing away reasonable item prices. Gathering and production skills won't be as profitable as it is now, and that's the main concern.

It's a lot more "rewarding" rather than throwing it in the GE.

I guess it's just safe to say, Jagex's two main games are going to be nothing but a dying light, about to vanished. The only reason they are still even going this far with the small community they have left is because of 07. Once 07 is dead, RS3 will surely be left to about 1-2K people left.

The game nor the company aren't what they used to be... Not what I remember back IN 2007...

I think alot of people honestly just want pre-eoc back. I think ge really just turns everyone into bank sitters. I think jagex can make the trading post a bit better by making it online only, but I enjoy trading with actual players and not seeing manipulation clans/flipping clans. Currently, if you wanna merch the crap out of the prices, you can't spend your time skilling or doing something more productive. I prefer that....I don't think you should be able to do both. You pay the convenience fee to merches if you skill...and if you decide to merch.. your account can't do what everyone else does

I don't play 07 because it's so fucking hard to get people to sell you shit if you aren't in varrock. The quality of the community is not the same as in the year 2007 where you could hope to get a varrock tab off someone for around market price in any bank, but now they won't even acknowledge you exist unless you offer outlandish amounts of money to get something you need.

I would support a GE cause the player interactions are already at a bare-minimum outside of heavily populated market areas.

I will say that the trading post did help with that a bit, but it needs to be used more.

I don't mind much. Just because it makes a trading merchants life hell. But it makes players lives easier. Although there would be ge merchants afterwards.. put me in the impartial category.

I love the fact that the GE made everything so easy to buy, but then there are so many merchers, prices will fluctuate so much, so I'll be voting no.

Well, not having the GE was good and all when I was younger, in 2007. However, now it's just a pain in the ass and takes too long. I have a ton of other responsibilities so adding a GE just helps with my time restrictions.

One question, what's the point of the trading post, which they just came out with, if the G.E. would be coming out? Would automatically make the trading post dead content.

On a 2nd note, I don't agree with the G.E. coming out to 07 scape. To me, 07 scape was always harder than EOC/Rs3. Adding a G.E. to 07 would make the game significantly easier. It's already easy enough now that they added the trading post, but not possibly G.E. too? I don't want the game to become that easy. I want it to be somewhat of a challenge to get items.

The G.E was released in 2007, if this is really supposed to be based on 07 runescape, it should be released on that basis alone.


edit: i like the trading post also, i like getting PM's and selling things that way. I do agree that the G.E made things WAY to easy. They should maybe release it with restrictions? i.e: you have to be online to sell on the GE.

The GE was released on the 26th November 2007...

I want it for the ease of buying/selling items without spending all my time on an alt hopping worlds every 2 minutes to try find merchers who rip you off. When you constantly get people trying to scam you for high value items or merchers for low value items I don't see the allure of player interaction.

Player interaction was better in the first 3-6 months IMO.
