SuF and Rabs, please remove yourselves from my thread and keep it to PMs. Further posting will only get this locked.

T4ank please try to take it to a PM with SuF if necessary. Personal 'attacks' are a no no on my thread. This isn't another Sythe.org drama scene, rather a thread where the community can suggest/comment on potential structure changes.

He's been busy posting in the UE Section and his own Section, as well as helping others. Although he hasn't done that many spammer reports, he does get some things done.

I just don't understand the concept of you asking for Report a Spammer permissions if you're not going to use them.

And I don't know why this thread has started to turn into flame between SuF and Rabs either. It's making me sad.

Yes, I've already said that.

As a moderator of a website, you should care what people say. Further... There is a difference between demanding and suggesting what needs to be done.

Why do you have to do them wrong? You say you are good at judgment and that you are experienced.. It's a simple fact of going according to the report - a - spammer sectional rules.

No one is forcing... But I'm 100% there are many worthy people on this sight that will do certain moderating jobs when you tell them too.

I don't get it?

So then they should be getting done. No?

Every topic mod has their own sectional job; the spammer reports should still be done and distributed evenly.

But you're volunteering, just because you're not getting paid - means you aren’t working to you're full potential.

I haven’t been given the opportunity, so you're right.

I’m not ordering anything. I'm saying what needs to be done as a voice and an opinion of the community.

Then you shouldn't be someone who is a mod. I'm just speaking for many members of the community who feel the same way.

Exactly. It shouldn't always get like this. Occasionally it gets 'fixed' when one Moderator (usually new) does 30 pages of reports, but otherwise they pile up.

Have all the moderators help out.

I don't really agree with this much, I kind of do, but I kind of don't.

You have to realize, people have a life, some people don't have time to do 20 scam reports a week.

20-30mins truly isn't shit.

This thread really did show how bitchy the mods were.

I agree with Cfrey. Some mods aren't doing shit, usually the RS mods are the ones doing them because they're the only ones that really don't have anything else to do, since they were modded because of previous position or because of popularity (as said above).

Some mods actually do alot, but it does take a group effort to really get things done. I'm surprised people are actually getting defensive when they hardly do them. I mean, it wouldn't be a problem if you guys would have notified each other in the Staff Forum and worked on it "behind closed doors" on your own. But no, you let the problem blossom and now the community has to actually speak up.

I know the sections would get annoying to see idiots reporting to get revenge on another person and the person didn't do anything against the rules, but that's just something your going to have to accept and keep going.

Hey, all you dumb fuck moderators who are claiming we do the work voluntarily - you're dumb fucks. You obviously accpeted the moderator position knowing what you will have to do being a mod, I guarantee you, all you fat ass mods (not all of you, select few) are already on the computer doing nothing but playing games. Can't you spent 15 minutes getting rid of scammers, and what not? Just do a couple of spam reports instead of pulling the "we do this scam and spam reports voluntarily". You obviously want to be a mod, which is why you accepted the position. It can't be very hard to use 10 minutes of your day just do some spammer reports. You lazy ass fucks, poor excuse of mods.

So then, why don't you make a new usergroup for the RaS & RaP section?
This would mean that you HAVE to do them.

You have to consider one thing, higher staff are reluctant to give new users status. They'd rather have someone who has been a moderator for an X period of time who does minimal work, than a new staff member who'll do them all. This is based on many reasons, the main ones below.

1) They don't know how the users will react to being given power. For instances, he might see it as a "Get rich, quick" oppurtunity.

2) I'm sure there is very sensitive information within the staff lounges. To let an active user in there without necessity will give X information that could do damage to Sythe

3) Newer users may not be suitable for situations that may be presented upon them. They could get angry one day and blow it all quickly.

Setting requirements does not solve anything. Moderating is a voluntary job, and forcing them to work will result in widespread conflict between staff and users alike.

Also, I don't think adding newer moderators is a solution. We need a longer term solution than a user who will do 50 pages once and never do them again.

Hope my post helps.

I, like many other people would have to agree with [N]ick.
I don't talk to many Mods on Sythe so I don't know how much they work, but I assume page after page of spam/scam reports can be overwhelming or at the lowest, annoying. This isn't a excuse for having some scam reports over looked for months. I have noticed that after reporting someone for scamming/attempting sometimes nothing happened unless I contacted a mod and had them look at the thread.

Normally, if I had a problem, I'd message Sin. She has a reputation of getting the job done. For example, I had a friend ask for me to be banned, for my Msn and multiple other things were stolen. I later made disputes, but they never got looked at, just because someone didn't feel like taking 5 minutes of their time. I finally contacted Sin via Msn and she took care of it immediately.
(There are still plenty of good mods/admins on Sythe I was just naming one :])

Still, mods must get annoyed as people get scammed and it is their own fault. As Viper said, many people get scammed in stupid scenarios that could of been avoided. All they had to do was check/Google the Msn, look in previous threads, or even just ask for a simple PM.

On the topic of infracting someone over false reporting, its a great idea. This could cut down on the time wasted by mods looking stupid spam reports and put it into scam reports, or whatever else they are working on. Many mods must spend hours looking at pointless spam reports of where people report someone for posting "Nice NAME!!!!". Yes, this is a pointless post, but it doesn't really effect the seller in anyway so there is no need to report it.

For the mods that say they are to busy to look at spam/scam reports I can understand, but even if they put in 30 minutes a week it would cut reports down majorly. If they don't want to do even this much, they should just resign or be demoted. They are obviously to busy to help out Sythe and I'm sure there is someone plenty willing to do it for them. There isn't any reason to have a few mods that do 10 pages of reports all at once since others don't feel like it.

Ps. Sorry for sloppy grammar/if I went off topic a little... It's almost 4 in the morning where I am:p
Thanks :D

The latest staff replies honestly have lowered my trust and faith in the staff from like 30% to a low 5%.

Hypocrisy, bitching, laziness and more, really?

The staff represent themselves like they don't care about ANYTHING, and don't want to DO anything.

This.

The community always makes a huge deal of of it when it gets above 10 or 20 pages... It used to be at like 60 pages... Spam reports are not a big deal...

From yesterday to today, there seems to have been like 7 pages done. In one day. And, from yesterday to today... The total amount of pages went up one.

Lets say... All 26 or so staff members did 30 mins a week.... One page takes me like 20 minutes due to slow internet. But, I'l say 15 for an average.

Thats 2 pages a week... Or about 50 pages...

Now. 7 new pages * 7 days. = 49 pages a week.

But. Are any admins going to do spam reports? No. They have better things to do. Are any globals going to do spam reports? Maybe 1 or 2 because they have better things to do.

So. Your looking at like 11 people... Thats 22 pages a week at 30 mins a week. So. Everyone would have to put in like an hour and a half a week doing spam reports to get them done... Which, is not going to happen... Why?

Because not everyone has the time to spend on spam reports. I don't want to have to come home and do spam reports in the couple of hours free I have a day....

Why no more mods?

I quoted at the top.

My only suggestion is that the user base stop bitching about this. It pissed me off, and I am not going to do any more spam reports for awhile. Why should I do what the community wants when they want current mods to resign and get new mods in place? Why should I listen to people that have no idea what the fuck they are talking about?
