However, I ASKED for permissions so I could help. I didn't have to ask for them. So. No.

    @Deacon

I wake up at 6. Leave my house at 7. Get home anywhere from 5-8. I'm shit tired almost always, but I still have to do work 2 or 3 hours of work when I get home, eat shower etc. When I have free time, I would rather it not be spend doing shit I don't want to do. This has been how my life works since I became mod. Nothing has changed.

And. From about 6PM every night my internet starts taking a shit. Everything is soooooooooooooooooooooo slow. It would take 10 minutes to load 10 spam reports....

And. Replace me if you want. I know who will be promoted in my place, and thats fine by me.

I see your point Viper, however there are many trusted members on Sythe who would check scammer and spammer reports if they were made moderators. So it doesn't make sense to have moderators that aren't cleaning up the site when you have ones that would.

Macroeconomics. I pay for internet bandwidth. The ads use my bandwidth. Therefore, I AM paying to access this site by having to view advertisements. If you don't want users to have any say, then remove the ads as you're costing us money for something we didn't opt into. We pay to access the site willingly by paying our internet bill, but the ads are not something we willingly pay for... They're a hidden charge.

There's more to the chart, but I cbf to find it... I'd suggest a Google search or two on your part ;).

No, you moderators do not have to please us, as you're not the business owners, or staff, technically. You don't have control over those ads, nor are you affiliated with their existence. You're merely members who are trusted enough to help out on a higher level.

To be honest, you should look at your position as a privilege, and stop assuming it's a right.

If you really want to know what I do in my spare time, talk to me somewhere else. Also, I did just do a page of spam reports, so you did prove my point by not noticing.

And completely agreed with Vipers post. If people actually traded with caution, 75% or so of scams wouldn't happen.

If staff don't have time for a website their mod/admin on, they should step down. And when your life has enough time step back up:) I fully agree with deacon and r_0w12. There are hundreds of people capable and trusted enough to be a mod.

As I said in the last thread, we tried mod activity requirements. They don't work; mods are volunteers, and they each choose what they feel like modding. As long as they're doing something they're better where they are; you would be surprised by how much some of them do. As I mentioned in the last thread, voting is always open, and we don't have a cap on mods; on a site like this, where we have to take additional precautions to choose trustworthy staff from a pile of scammers, we cannot replace mods with anyone at random. We cannot afford to threaten active mods with a demotion simply because they have no interest in spam reports. However, we have (and do) demote mods when they become grossly inactive.

It looks like he was banned, the mod who did it just forgot to put in a perm ban request. I'll talk to him about it.

Finding moderators is much harder than you think.... There is no where near 100 people that are moderator material.

Every mod post who said "I don't want to do that shit, it's boring." made me lol.

Just accepted mod for fun and games...

Exactly like every other site that fails eventually, I support.

    Would oil the Sythe machine.

I have been the victim of pure staff laziness for nearly months now...

How is this? If X amount of Moderators complete X amount of reports every week, then there should be nothing to worry about in the sections.

If Sythe is free to join, then why are users being considered "customers"?

It's obviously free to join, but if there's no obligation for Mods to please others, then how will anything ever get done?

If no one sees the need to answer the reports, then the section should just be closed off from Moderation, and just used as a place for users to check and see if a person who is currently not banned is a scammer. When I went through some reports the other day, I couldn't believe how many scammers have been reported and are still on here daily.

I remember back when I got Mod, there was someone who I noticed was reported for scamming, and I ended up banning them. Then I searched for his name in the section, and there was about 7-8 threads that came up saying he was a scammer, dating back to almost 2-3 months even. Ridiculous.

Well, how can this be prevented then?

Not necessarily, but Mods are implemented to be here and help other users, but it seems that the regular users are the ones that really have to help out others, when they can't even do anything.

    Dommage...

    D:

Is that not the point of Moderators? To clean up the Forums and make sure the users are in check?

    It absolutely is.

Many people would be so appreciative of becoming a Mod if they had the chance, but as said by some, it's hard to promote those because they don't know if they're going to abuse their powers in some way or another.

    I got owned.

However, I couldn't find the page that you did, as there are so many reports left as is. ;)

It's somewhat hard to do, however, because some people don't understand the concept of a MiddleMan, or they end up using one that isn't even trusted or known. =\

I did all I could for you. :(.

    @Other Guy.

There are at least 10... But out of those, half will not want it or will not work out I would guess... Thats 5... And, they might all be from a section where we do not need more mods...

When I was a mod, I fucking hated doing spam reports.

I fully empathize with the staff that don't do them, and I don't think they should be forced to do them at all.

Maybe modlogs should be made public so users could see how active our staff actually is?

    The ones that want to?

Agreed :p I would have been demoted my first week if there were spam report requirements. I seldom did them; there was always enough to do without a user telling me that I should infract someone for flaming because that person called them 'annoying,' or for spam because "he didn't read that I only wanted ____".

Read the reports sometime. A few of them are important and valid, but the majority of them aren't even worth the infraction, or are so minor that it's actually a real decision whether it deserves one.

Perhaps if the reports were more substantial, they'd be a bigger priority.

At the moment, only Admins can see log counts. However, Matthew used to have a mod that would let users see their own logs, and I think he was considering getting it running again.

Putting the burden on just a few mods is only going to tire them out on it, which will result in none of them doing it.
