What are your thoughts on metal music and all the variants like death & black? I personally think this is the worst genre in music and should be eradicated from the earth. I really love country so maybe im being subjective. Interested to hear your thoughts.

Just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean they're wrong. Is it my music genre of choice? No. Just because I don't enjoy the music whatsoever does not mean that it should never exist. Plenty of people do, and who are we to tell them that they are wrong.

My personal thoughts are that it's alright, wouldn't really go out of my way to listen to it though.

Besides the obvious troll baiting in this thread, metal music is the most diverse genre with the most loyal and die-hard fans. I enjoy death, thrash, speed, stoner, blues, and many of the 'cores'. Metal is not for everyone, but it is a very accessible and accepting genre where if someone is looking they can generally find something they like.

New country is tantamount to the same mass market pop trash played on teen radio the world over in that it has lost all roots to the real music and is nothing but a marketing ploy to rake in money. Classic country is where it is at.

It's a rather diverse genre, that reaches out and blends with other genres so beautifully. I really enjoy it.

I'm not the biggest fan, but there was a time I was really into alternative music, which made me expand to genres, such as metal. To say the least, I enjoy few metal songs.

Its hard to get into if your not part of that lifestyle IMO.

But regardless, I'm a fan of smooth music like micheal buble, so no metal for me.

I don't like it, as I only listen to opera and classical, but I don't feel it should be eradicated from the earth. Everyone has a different taste, and is not forced to listen to any genre they dislike

My girls brother opened my eyes to metal and its different genres back in 2010. Took a lot of getting used to but its my favorite music now. Ever since i cant stand listening to the radio or the teen pop shit shit splattered everywhere. I legit spend half the car rides between my music and my girls music. I spend her share of music time making fun of it lol.

Midway through a metal song I get the urge to stab my eardrums. The genre does have a diehard fan base without a doubt.

    This.

You of all people should know there is plenty of GREAT country coming out right now! Hell country is actually some of the only music I would say isn't stagnating into complete monotony. Granted we aren't talking clear channel commercial bro country bullshit.

Back OT. I fucking love metal, I'd say "metal" is the absolute broadest base genre THERE IS. Not implying the people who are claiming they dislike would change their minds regardless but I can say with 100% confidence you haven't even scratched the surface of the genre.. let alone the dozens of legitimate sub-genres.

I'm a fan of alternative rock/heavy rock, so a little bit of screaming isn't that bad. But when the whole damn song is screaming 24/7 I can't be bothered.

Examples of heavy rock bands that incorporate a bit of screaming, but not too much:

    A Day to Remember
    Bullet for my valentine

Both of those are alright bands Ronaldo, but I love screaming! LOVE IT!!!!

Cradle of Filth is my all time favorite, as far as screaming goes. I swear that Dani Filth can screech high enough to break class and growl low enough to make you shit your pants! lmao

It all depends though... my mother likes some of the musical parts, but hates the vocals simply because she can't understand what they're screaming. I wrote out some cradle lyrics once and she said it was beautiful and asked if I wrote it... I turned on the song and she couldn't believe her ears haha

This isn't my absolute favorite cradle song, but it's one of the most popular... Maybe this video will convert some screaming-til-your-eyes-bleed-haters. lmao

"The Moon, she hangs like a cruel portrait
Soft winds whisper the bidding of trees
As this tragedy starts with a shattered glass heart
And the Midnightmare trampling of dreams
    But oh, no tears please
Though fear and pain may accompany Death
But it is desire that shepherds it's certainty
    As We shall see..."

    She was divinity's creature
    That kissed in cold mirrors
    A Queen of Snow
    Far beyond compare
    Lips attuned to symmetry
    Sought Her everywhere
    Dark liqoured eyes
    An Arabian nightmare...

    She shone on watercolours
    Of my pondlife as pearl
Until those who couldn't have Her
Cut Her free of this World

    That fateful Eve when...
The trees stank of sunset and camphor
Their lanterns chased phantoms and threw
An inquisitive glance, like the shadows they cast
On my love picking rue by the light of the moon

    Putting reason to flight
Or to death as their way
    They crept through woods mesmerized
    By the taffeta Ley
Of Her hips that held sway
    Over all they surveyed
Save a mist on the rise
    A deadly blessing to hide
    Her ghost in the fog

    They raped left...
    (Five men of God)
    ...Her ghost in the fog

    Dawn discovered Her there
    Beneath the Cedar's stare
Silk dress torn, Her raven hair
Flown to gown Her beauty bared
Was starred with frost, I knew Her lost
I wept 'til tears crept back to prayer

She'd sworn Me vows in fragrant blood
    "Never to part
Lest jealous Heaven stole our hearts"

    Then this I screamed:
    "Come back to Me for
I was born in love with thee
So why should fate stand in between?"

And as I drowned Her gentle curves
With dreams unsaid and final words
I espied a gleam trodden to earth
    The Church bell tower key...

The village mourned her by the by
    For She'd been a witch
Their Men had longed to try
And I broke under Christ seeking guilty signs
    My tortured soul on ice

    A Queen of snow
    Far beyond compare
    Lips attuned to symmetry
    Sought Her everywhere
    Trappistine eyes
    An Arabian nightmare...

    She was Ersulie possessed
    Of a milky white skin
    My porcelain Yin
    A graceful Angel of Sin

    And so for Her...
The breeze stank of sunset and camphor
My lantern chased Her phantom and blew
Their Chapel ablaze and all locked in to a pain
Best reserved for judgement that their bible construed...

    Putting reason to flight
    Or to flame unashamed
    I swept form cries
    Mesmerized
    By the taffeta Ley
Or Her hips that held sway
    Over all those at bay
Save a mist on the rise
    A final blessing to hide
    Her ghost in the fog

    And I embraced
    Where lovers rot...
    Her ghost in the fog

    Her ghost in the fog
