Megadeth vs. Metallica

A conflict that has been around for ages. The battle of two bands, Megadeth and Metallica. How did this conflict start? Well, it all started when Metallica was first formed, when they had the original [aka the best] lineup, this included Dave Mustaine, who is now in Megadeth. How this happened? Well, he was commented as a drug addict, as well as fucking around in recording sessions, including the time when he spilt his drink on the bassists guitar. Which pissed him off, after several more incidents, Dave was fired. After a few months, he formed his own band. Which is known as Megadeth. After recording a few albums, Metallica started more conflicts, this included James Hetfield (lead vocalist of Metallica) complaining about Dave's song writing, this was especially targeted at the song 'Mechanix', which had very simular styles to Metallica's 'The Four Horsemen', but the truth was, Dave co-writed that song before he was fired. I prefer Megadeth, their early material was fast and purely legendary, their new stuff is good, but they changed style, which is still OK.

Metallica, I'd have to say no. Their first release was awesome, but as time went on, they changed to modern styles of rock/metal. Which got the label on their album 'Death Magnetic' the 'Worst Album of 2008', according to last.fm users.

It is sad how metallica started an entire genre of metal (with mustaine) and then stopped making it themselves.
In my opinion, i prefer Mustaines voice to Hetfields and Mustaines guitar work to Hammets.

 

Dave is just a better guitarist, I do like metallica's vocals better though. But overall Megadeth pwns..where is the poll for this?

Pretty much all Metallica songs, are over 7 minutes in length, and they all sound the same. What's so great about that? I don't know about you all, but I prefer some uniqueness in the music that I listen to. And if anybody replies to this disagreeing, it's probably some 10 year old whose parents bought him Guitar Hero Metallica for his Birthday.

But at the same time so does Megadeth, bit of a double edged sword.

Yet im going to say Metallica is better, just because i simply prefer the sound of their music and the length of their solos.

 

I vote for Metallica, I don't really like Daves voice. Their new releases are not that good as old ones, but I don't know a band which would keep 'great' state all the time.

 

Metallica all the way. The band helped me get out of depression through its music. Also I love to play Guitar Hero Metallica on Xbox Live lol

 

Megadeth definitely. I love their style of Thrash more than Metallica any day.

Tough choice, I'd go with Metallica though because of the vocals as well as their style.

 

I am going to have to say Metallica, But mainly everything before "The Black Album". I still love Megadeth, i mean who could not bang there head when listening to "Holy Wars" or "Symphony of Destruction"??

Anyways, Metallica beats Megadeth in my book(by a very small string).

 

I don't like to compare them. I listen to them equally and I like both of their earlier styles of music.
