Hang on, are you suggesting we conduct a study on humans to see whether long term inbreeding causes genetic deformities? That sounds slightly unethical, as experiments on hundreds of different species have all produced the same result.

While it is true short term inbreeding at the cousin scale will not cause problems, over several generations it has been proven that abnormalities will occur.

 

No, you cannot. The numbers do not compute. Though people can have dozens of children, it simply isn't possible for our race to grow to such numbers WITHOUT inbreeding.

Not at all, we have the ability to simulate genetic growth and deterioration in humans, we simply haven't made the technology yet and done it.

I'd say, over time, even though we've all been inbred more than once, we've developed. We're actually smarter as a society than they were hundreds of years ago . We can thank the great scientists in our past, but that doesn't mean we don't have breakthroughs of our own .

If two people find that they are in love and are also first cousins there is nothing wrong with that. If these two individuals decide they want to have children then they would go over the possible health risks of it and decide whether or not they think the risk is worth the reward. From there they make a decision, and whatever happens will happen. So that throws out the idea for two people not to have children if they are cousins.

Marriage of course should be legal between first cousins, its not like if they aren't allowed to get married they will decide to give up and stop loving each other from that point on. So in summary, I think its prefectly fine if two consenting people get married regardless of being related
