Make an easy billion? (look)

I was under the impression that we would short sell the ge, as in buy the entire market of an item, sell at lowest after a few days, and then when it gets to a really low point buy it out again.
That's what I learned from the wikipedia page on 007 Casino Royale.
D00M requested that I post on the thread as we were discussing it over MSN, the problem is though, I don't think we would have the capacity to do that.

as far as i can tell, shortselling heavily relys on borrowing an item prior to selling it. ie borrowing>selling>buying back at decreased price>returning. since you can't borrow from the ge (or sell a borrowed item) i don't understand how the above mentioned can make profit...

 

What I said was both theoretical, and summarized. As I said I simply read the wikipedia article, and when the topic of shortselling came up, I summarized in my head of what it is I think I get the: borrowing>selling>buying back at decreased price>returning. I would assume that the only difference between real shortselling and my idea, is the use of a lender; since you can't lend money in runescape... I would assume that we would just have less control with my method, the only viable method.
