Jagex ARE on sythe.

i never advertised in game, that just means that no one has logged on my account with a different ip.

 

Also, it wouldn't be THAT hard to find some Sythe users.

Right click any of the Runescape pages > view source.

They track which page you're coming from whenever you visit ANY Runescape page. It wouldn't be hard for them to see "Sythe.org" and flag the IP address, then investigate any account that has used that IP address.

It would only take ONCE in all of the time you've ever been on Sythe for you to go from Sythe to Runescape and they'd have your IP address stored for later review.

You gave them the last letters of your username, which would eliminate LOTS of people on that possible list, as well as how much of a cash stack you had along with two items. I highly doubt there are many other accounts that have all of those same characteristics in common.

I'm not saying that this is how you got caught, but it's a possibility.

Although, we could always have a wanna-be mod on this site that just reports players to Jagex, hence he's not an employee if he doesn't get paid or anything....

 

Your messenger email or the account login email/associated email or the email which you have used to buy membership was the same, I think that's how Jagex got you.

i was banned in 2006 for RWT so they may have kept an eye on me or reviwed my ip or something

A sythe member/jagex mod on sythe reported me

i just was in the wrong place wrong time and got caught

or that i've missed something so blatanlty obvious mistake i made, but i doubt it.

I think that the message we take from this is firstly to be constantly vigilant, and also to make sure that we are very careful regarding who we trade with. I'm always careful to avoid putting my username on Sythe.

 

Someone at Jagex is probably passing the link to this thread around the office for the lulz already because this is page 5 and we are still clueless on how they figured out the account name.

My best guess is that they work undercover on forums like sythe, pretend to be noobs willing to trade their dollar for pixels. That's how they catch internet pedophiles...

 

Doesn't it violate the terms of Sythe? Doesn't it say something like.. You agree you aren't a member, or affiliated with Jagex?

 

Itd be very stupid of anyone to assume jagex ISNT on sythe.

I thought it was against the ToS on Sythe for Jagex to even be on Sythe? If they got their proof from Sythe then they are subject to a lawsuit.

It's definitely Pmods leaking them information. On the Pmod forums, they have direct access to speak with a JMod.
