Surah Al- Nisa (4:34) from the verse in question:

Admonish those of them on whose part you apprehend disobedience, and leave them alone in their beds and chastise them. Then if they obey you, seek no pretext against them. Surely, Allah is High, Great (35)

"Chastise" NOT BEAT OR HIT BUT "CHASTISE"

According to Google search of definition of Chastise. But according to my unbiased knowledge I would say since the book says to "Chastise" her you should "Chastise" her which isn't even the truth because I didn't translate the Arabic text myself so it'd be based on this translation or find what context they speak of before applying a western ideology into the context of the book revealed to Arabs 1400+ yrs ago. You're just trying to force a screw into a random hole. Doesn't work.

 

What Western ideology are you talking about? It sounds like @Tanged is making an excellent point - that the duty of the husband is the chastise the wife, implying a superior/inferior relationship.

 

This Panic Room guy is a white male who grew up in the western world who is fetishizing middle eastern mysticism.
Normally race wouldn't play a role but from our conversation, he has no islamic background culturally or racially.
I would also like to state that he does agree woman are inferior to a woman by the word of god.
We spoke about this quite a bit also he believes mohammed having sex with a 9/10 year old is also completely rational and fine.
We also spoke about how Mohammed destroyed the ancestors of many of the world's current day Muslims.
All in all, mohammed was a rapist and a warlord who was ruthless with his enemies.
why is this important?
Because in the Quran Mohammed is suppose to be the best example of a functioning Muslim.
I understand not all muslims support these acts but, regardless the backbone of the Quran is not compatible to the modern day west. Morally speaking the majority of muslims are 'right" and conservative so I believe the only reason the left would support them is to farm pitty points because they are not white and male. ( some muslims are white and some are male but the combination of white and male is seen as the greatest toxin to these people.)
