I made an account but i wasnt sure how to use it. Dont understand the binance coin thing, is it a must buy to trade or can i transfer btc from coinbase to binance and purchase icx immediately.

Haven't watched the video but assume that it explains how to trade on Binance.

You don't need Binance Coin to trade on Binance, it is used to reduce fees.
