After you read this Reddit thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/6zl6rl/icon_raising_150k_eth_koreas_first_crypto/) you will have a hard time trying to convince yourself not to contribute in ICON's presale/ICO.

Here is a quick summary of the thread. Sources for the partnerships and more details in general will be in the Reddit thread.

Team:
The ICON team is amazing. A lot of people who went to the best Universities in Korea and a lot of them are American educated. A members who have a business background that worked for top tier banks (JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank... etc.)


Parent Company:
ICON is a project of Dayli Financial Group. It is an arm of Yello Mobil. Yello Mobile is huge. They are one of the largest startups in Korea with a valuation north of $4b.


Partnerships:

• Just announced partnership with Ripple
• 27 financial firms in Korea
• Korean Financial Investment Association
  • The "Financial Firms" mentioned in the above article are VERY legit. Daishin Securities has close to a $1b USD market cap and 185 employees on Linkedin. Kiwoom's market cap is well over $1.5b USD. The others also manage billions or hundreds of millions US.
• Signed an agreement with Woori (appears to be the second largest bank in Korea) to create something like Tether but for the Korean Won.
• They own Coinone, the second largest crypto exchange in Korea
• They have a partnership with multiple universities including Sogang University
• Some sort of insurance consortium with hospitals and insurance companies

ICO:
150k Eth, first round caps you at 30 eth per person, then 100 eth, then 1,000 eth.

The regulatory area in Korea is a little concerning when investing in something like an ICO based in Korea. I didn't research this one or anything, so maybe they're good with regulatory issues (assuming so if they're in partnership with ripple).

You'd want to have a higher than normal risk tolerance when investing into this. Seems like they'll have a lockup period before being listed on exchanges till the end of this year? Something to take note of.

They require you to send a picture of your passport. This is to abide to all laws... etc. so people in the US and a couple other countries will not be able to contribute (I think).

 

Just participated into the ICO, the distribution will be paid after a certain time from the token sale close.

 

Entire ICO ended within 6 hours, lol. I got in at the right time, they raised 150000 ETH within that timeframe and ended the ICO way earlier than expected.

I did, got in about 2 hours in, I made sure to get up at 7 am so that I could participate. Honestly if they push it to be mainstream it could be huge. Good tech + global adoption is the dream.

Interesting project but for me Boscoin seems to be the #1 comming Korean crypto project. They had their ico in may and comming to the market begin October. Still quite under the radar, but they have a strong team and unique product.

Just saying, keep an eye out for Boscoin when it hits the exchanges.

ICX was listed on Binanace this morning and will be up on OKEX today/tomorrow, which is great news.

Congrats to everyone who participated. ICX is already trading at ~$2 (ICO price was $0.12) on the first day. Let's see what happens when the Asian markets open on OKEX.

I tend to not invest or advise people to put their money into something I am not confident in. I don't see why anyone would sell their ICX right now, this is going to be big. Look at the parent company, partnerships... etc. This is something REAL. I don't need to type it out, all the info is right there.
