    WHAT! =O
Alright check out Killswitch Engage see what you think about them.
Most all I listen to have meaning and you just have to figure it out piece by piece to get the picture into place. Every band has their own style, I do prefer guitar over anything though always give me high spirits
I feel that screaming brings more emotion and energy to the song and its just beautiful to me. I dont like it brutal hardcore like those death metals growls though too much for me =P

I have actually wrote about 12 songs so far. I might post one or 2 on here and see what you guys think <3

I don't mind some rock music to a certain extent, after an hour or so i would get fed up off hearing it great to bash your head and have a fun time.

Would rather listen to Rock/metal instead of rap or r&b but i could listen to Dance, Hardcore, Clubland all day 24/7 with no sleep and still be doing the robot dance. :D

Yes, Ke$ha and Katy Perry are true rolemodels when they both go on about sex and expose their bodies in videos...
    Hmm

I do agree with you that metal has its downs....but i think that people who autotune like ke$ha and Katy Perry can't be called...real music.

Metal is great. It makes you just want to wreck everything in your way. I like metal for the fast double bass drum, guitar solos and the occational breakdown. The new age stuff, imo is better than metallica, however I do have respect for them for paving the way for the thrash scene. :)

Metal is really good. I mean, not ALL of it is good...like the shit about satan and crap...thats alll bull shit. Just because you cant understand the words, doesnt mean anything. Rap=cant understand. Techno=sometimes words. Jazz=if theyre most jazz singers=cant understand. Country is pretty much the only thing you can REALLY understand. And I hate country because its all about the same thing. beer, trains, moms, girlfriends leaving them, and, oh yeah, beer. At least with other genres, there are different scenarios :\

The things that you're stating as facts are totally opinionated. For starters, metal is HUGELY diverse. Sure, there's some metal with nonsensical lyrics about killing and with screaming rough vocals instead of singing, but you can find plenty of those things in hip hop as well. On the other end of things, there's also plenty of metal that has very meaningful lyrics, melodic and musically complex instrumentation, and sweet melodic vocals. It all depends on the style that you're referring to.

Now, metal isn't ordinarily my cup of tea. For the most part, I don't go out of my way to listen it, save for a few bands, but I at least can appreciate the merit that it has, much in the same way that I appreciate the merit of hip hop and techno.

Meaningful lyrics are subjective and cater to specific audiences. A lot of hip hop caters to lower class communities because it speaks of hardship and street life. It's something they can relate to. Now, I don't personally relate to that, nor do I relate to a lot of metal, but some people do. Much in the same way that I love listening to folk music from the 60s because of the message in the songs, but plenty of people would simply label it as "hippie music".

You're entitled to your opinion, just be aware of what each genre of music brings to the table, and realize that if the name is known, then it's meaningful to someone.

Edit: At the meathead above me, try to be less of an ignorant metal-head. You can't claim that metal's good and then dismiss other genres.

Rap = Cultural. The lyrics speak to certain people, and those are the ones that like it. The style is inspired by poetry, and if you can't understand it, you're not listening.

Techno = Instrumental. Of course the lyrics aren't as meaningful in techno. Techno is about feeling and state of mind. Not to mention that, but DJing is something that's incredibly under-rated and requires a huge amount of talent to adequately create and mix.

Jazz = Soul music. The lyrics speak to a generation that you're not part of, but was hugely relevant at the time. What you're referring to as "can't understand" is likely in reference to scat singing, which is an intentional instrumentation of the voice. You can't understand it because they intentionally want to appear to be non-vocals. I myself am a jazz singer, and I can tell you that there's nothing difficult to understand about Jazz.

Country = Heart. I don't like country, I'll admit, but I can appreciate it. It's soothing and the majority of country songs talk about themes that most people can relate to. Heartbreak, leaving home, finding love, they're real themes. To suggest that all country is about the redneck themes you suggested is pure ignorance.

Many people will say that rock lacks meaning because the majority of rock songs do appear to be nonsensical, but it's what people like, and it DOES speak to someone.

Metal made my youth enjoyable to say the least, it has made its name clear in the list of genre's. It is definitely not for everybody, definitely.

same! but i also love metal, but you do have to find the right bands to get meaningful lyrics, which can be hard if you go mainstream

It's about appreciating the actual music. And sometimes, realize it or not, the lyrics are really deep.

This has to be one of my favorite songs. Especially the whistle solo and the bag-pipes. LOL It's all about what you appreciate~

Got to love the musicianship of metal musicians. Dream Theater is among the best of progressive metal!

Only "Metal" I'd listen to is Avenged Sevenfold, and even then I don't classify them as metal.

If I was stuck in the 80's, Metal would've been the only thing I'd listen to, plus with all those groupies you can't go wrong.

Why make a thread based on hate? Find something better to do with your time instead of talking shit about the best music around.

A7X is good, Though I don't like much of their music after City of Evil. Nightmare was decent
