How safe is Scythe?

Sythe is not safe at all. Scammers are frequently promoted to staff, and you don't even get banned from the site for scamming. Even when scammers are proven guilty, the can return with no penalties. Additionally, scammers are able to change their name, making it impossible for users to audit someone appropriately before trading.

PA's customer support is shit, but they at least have a financial interest and limited safeguards to deincentivize scamming.

I wish former scammers had to put some type of security deposit down when they rejoin the community as a safe guard against their exit scams. As someone who has been scammed by people who have been unbanned without my knowledge just bothers me a bit how openly they're allowed back and with no permanent damage. Most people I know who have scammed once tend to repeat the behavior in the future and puts all us at risk and most of the time they just get more rep and are able to scam exit even more than before.

 

Just be smart, take precautions, dont entertain sketchy behaviour and you should be perfectly fine.
