How did you start watching Anime?

Just curious how everyone first got into anime and what your first anime was?

I started watching anime on adult swim years ago when they played DBZ then cowboy bepop and trigun.... how can it get any better than that?

 

Started off Pokemon at a young age which went onto my first proper anime Death Note and continued.

 

My first Anime I have ever watched was Pokemon way way back, as a kid I thought it was great, but I tried re-watching it from start to finish and I got to episode 10 before stopping,

I would rate Pokemon a 6/10 at max and that's me being super generous, I think the newer Pokemon series are better or at least that's what I've heard, maybe i'll give Pokemon another go soon.​

 

first anime ever was shaman king God knows when it was about 11-13 years ago. Didnt even know it was an anime since i watched the Dub version on TV. A irl friend then convinced me to watch naruto about 3 years ago and ever since then ive been hooked to animes.

 

Started with Pokemon, Yugioh, Naruto and One Piece being my favorite shows when they started airing on Cartoon Network / Adult Swim / Toonami. 10+ish Years ago. So I always enjoyed them, but in my late highschool / early college years I started really getting into a lot of other anime thanks to a couple friends that are hard core into it and some easy to download from sites I found. So I've just been sitting back building my collection.

I prefer dubbed over sub any day, but I'll watch sub if I have to or it looks good enough.

 

I would see the word 'anime' pop up alot in the RS/RSPS community. Even some of my friends would say it was great, but I just didn't think it would be something that interested me. I then took the 'don't knock it until you try it' approach and asked one of them to recommend me an anime to watch.

Death note was the anime I was told to watch and I couldn't get enough of it! Ever since then I have watched anime. If anyone is reading this and hasn't made the leap into anime yet. Watch Death note

 

Of course we all started the same way. Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. So I won't count that. I started watching real anime a long time ago when my brother showed me some things. I mostly watched the big name ones.

 

my first was the dragonball series, toonami played spirited away and that was my gateway drug into weaboo-dom.

 

The typical anime you see as a child growing up in the 90's were Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Dragonball. About 5 years ago, Naruto was my gateway to being more interested in other anime.

 

I started by watching Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Inuyasha, Pokemon, Avatar the last Air Bender, and Fullmetal Alchemist when I was a kid. I still remember watching Goku vs Frieza on TV back then

 

Was looking for a song on youtube and misclicked an AMV.

 

I was sitting on my friends bed and i saw it on his screen asked what it was he said it was FMA Brotherhood i was like sounds cool so i watched a couple episodes and then got hooked on the show and started watching anime from their don't regret it ever

 

I enjoyed animes such as Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, and Digimon as a child. But what really made me know the existence of anime was Naruto. I was tired of waiting for it to air and decided to search it up on the internet and that was when I found out that you could watch it online.

 

As it seems with everyone, Pokemon. I didn't know at the time that I was watching Anime and it wasn't until about 6 months ago that I actually started watching Anime. My brother watched Fate/Stay Night and Sword Art Online and recommended them to my friend and I. Ever since then I have been in love with Anime. Re:Zero is my favorite so far #teamrem

 

One my friends was watching a anime and there was a epic fight scene that he was watching and I asked him wat cartoons do you watch? He said I watch anime not cartoon the first one was Death note that I watched and till then I was hooked on watching animes, nowadays I watch movies and TV series because I literally watch all the Outstanding and most populars ones

 

Came home from elementary school/primary school and I tuned into Yu Yu Hakusho<3 and after that, I was hooked.

Saw naruto on tv ahaha

 

Started with Naruto on TV then MyAnimeList fulfilled my addiction.

 

That's a good question... I very probably started with Cartoonnetwork; of course there was Pokemon, DBZ, Gundam, but when I wanted to feel grown up I'd watch the stuff on Adult Swim, especially Yu yu Hakusho.

ohh and Big O, that was probably my favorite.
