Homosexuality.

Talk to your Congressman.. A decision has already been made reference Gays in the military.

As per the "reasoned argument", please post your real world experience concerning the topic of my post; Gays in the military? Are you Gay? Are you a Gay soldier? Are you or have you ever been a soldier? Then please explain to me how you would even consider to understand the issues and/or impacts? Thanks for your well informed post..

I have never served with any homosexual men is a combat unit, and I myself am not a homosexual solider, so I suppose you could say that I don't have any personal experience with this issue. I've also never been in a position where I'm terminally ill and wanted my doctor to kill me, but this doesn't prevent me from having an opinion on the issue, nor does it invalidate my opinion in any way.

I hear this same line all the time.. However, imagine yourself in a combat theater with Finn during contact? I use Finn as an example of the typically drama queen who recently posted an image of himself pole dancing. These are the gay public acts that impact much of the reasons why gays are looked down upon. Once you find yourself in that situation, you'll quickly change your point of view. You see this is what this is really all about.. 90% of the comments in this section come from kids who have yet to even understand/experience the "real" world they live in.. Oh yes, I know.. Once you hit 13 you think you know it all. Your first year of college your ready to change the world. Fact is, this subject of gays in the military is something you have no experience and/or "real" knowledge on. A decision was made reference gays in the military for a reason.. Research that and then come back to tap out a few lines from Google.

Rather than tap-dancing around the point, answer me this: if a homosexual man can be shown to excel at combat, what reason do you have for preventing him from serving in the armed forces?

If you had any idea of what you're commenting on you'd know that I have nothing to do with it.. Once again, talk to your Congressman.. lol

Spyike: if you are unwilling to respond to questions posed by members on this thread and are instead here to spew forth your prejudice and unfounded remarks about homosexuals, take it elsewhere. Don't post here again unless you are going to respond to the arguments of others -- they have otherwise wasted their time trying to reason with you.

I've responded to all except you.. Sorry you're not getting the answer/posts you wish.. My feedback and opinion, not yours

If you believe the following is an appropriate response to intellectual opinion, you are mistaken. Improve the quality of your posts to the level demanded by this forum's stickies or don't post - it's a very simple concept.

My posts are in response to the subject.. Sorry I do not support homos in the military.. considering it is deemed unacceptable by the military.

It was "unacceptable" for roughly 19 years in the USA, but now that people have started to accept the inevitable, that law has been abolished. The military didnt really want to know for those years, and now, it doesn't matter who knows. How is that unacceptable?

I dont hate them till they stay away from me!

Spyike, sorry if already been asked, but why dont you support gay in the military?

He is simply stating his opinion, sorry that you don't agree, Finnigans. The SFA forum doesn't require you to achieve a the highest level of debate, it simply requires that you argue an intelligent position on the topic. His answers are biased, as yours are, you simply dislike the fact that he does not agree with you. I do not believe gays should be allowed in the military either, nothing to do with their physical attributes.

I find it revolting that people could find homosexuals revolting.

For starters, it's not a choice. That said, it's not even unnatural. It occurs regularly in nature, as it has forever, in humans and in other animals as well. Just because a 2000 year old book says that it's horrible and wrong, doesn't mean that it's right.

The fact of the matter is this. Yes, it may not make people comfortable to be around them in the military. And yes, some of them tend to act "non-masculine", but you know what? Gender roles have been irrelevant for a long time. In the beginning of the 20th century, a women would be branded as a homosexual if she chose to wear pants instead of a dress or skirt. These days, it's incredibly common. Times change, as do the definitions of "normal". In that regard there's nothing that naturally makes men like football, and there's nothing that naturally makes women like showtunes and glitter. Just because a man finds interest in what would normally be found appealing by women doesn't make him wrong in liking it. Same goes for women who like things normally labelled for men, which is incredibly more accepted than their male counterparts.

Serving in the military is a right and a choice, and gay people should have that right to serve. Not all gay people are sexual assailants, and not all of them care about whether or not someone else is gay. For that matter, a very miniscule portion defines those things, but that miniscule portion is what the media focuses on. The honest truth is that of most of the gay people serving, their comrades probably wouldn't even know that they're gay unless they made them aware of it. And in the same way that straight men have a right to make people aware that they're straight, gay people deserve the same liberty.

As for marriage, these days Christians love to think that they invented it, but they DIDN'T. Marriage even predates Judeo-Christian marriages, and you know what? Some of the first marriages occurred between two men. Just because the bible claims that it's only to be between a man and a women doesn't mean it should be socially acceptable to deny that right to the homosexual population. That said, there IS a distinct separation of Church and State in the government. Government CAN NOT make laws pertaining to the religious proceedings of citizens. Keeping that in mind, it is absolutely UNCONSTITUTIONAL to disallow a religious institution to perform a marriage ceremony between two men. Not only that, but there's absolutely no reason at all that the state should be allowed to disallow it if there really is a separation of church and state.

Do I think a church should have a right to say "We won't let it happen here"? Well, sure. It's their religious institution and their right to deny it. But there are very many churches in this country that WOULD allow it, and there's no reason why they should be forbidden to.

The only reason why anyone would hate homosexuality is ignorance. If you dislike the idea of it, it's entirely because you're too stupid to know otherwise, and I feel bad for you.

/rant.

It's not because that the Catholic Church hates on gays. They beleive that marriage should be between a man and a woman to have children, not just for the fun of it.

The catholic church also has no problems with Gays being together, or making love, it's not their business but marriage was a word first used by Christians so technically those people you were talking about were not getting "married" but simply just together.

I have no problem with gays being listed as "legally together" but Christians are mad for you using their words for something they do not support.

It's the 21st century. Christians need to get over themselves.

What difference does it make that it is the 21st century. It has been two millennium since Christianity came into existence, that means they have long established values and traditions. That isn't going to change in a matter of eleven years over a very small portion of the population...

It also means their beliefs are old, outdated, and no longer law. They no longer control and rule as they once did. I'd say that's a significant difference.

Christians have never ruled anything other than the recent state of Vatican City.

If you look back on history it has been christians who were punished, martyred, etc, not the other way around.

Although there is great influence from the Christian faith, they have also respected other beliefs, which is the reason why other faiths or non-faiths exist. So don't go around saying that Christians ruled everyone from the past one or two milleniums.

Topping out at 2.1 billion adherents... I'd say they have a pretty significant influence on the world population... That's 33%, bud. That means one in three people agree with the Church to some degree. I would argue that they are the single most influential organization in the entire world. That's not going to change quickly. You are clearly wrong.

EDIT: Parox, watch out for the double post.

Read last line... I didn't say they weren't.

Oh, I was arguing with the Joker. He seemed to believe that the Church was flawed and that it needed to change its views to suit the gay population.

I believe it's a personal choice and we should not discriminate against anyone for what they choose to believe in. If someone ones to fight for there country it shouldn't matter about there sexuality, because all the people around them are there for the same cause.

I never stated they did not still have a major influence. I said they need to get over themselves, meaning that they do have influence and need to catch up with the rest of the world in their beliefs.

Oh, sorry about that.

And to Joker, why should they change their beliefs and why can't you change your own beliefs ?

For this exact reason the government does not like to touch up on delicate debates such as gay marriage, thus which will most likely make the laws remain.

Because their beliefs conflict. Tell me this, why is being gay wrong? It's not a choice, therefore it would be a natural occurence, meaning your God made this possible/happen. Why would God not want the children he supposedly created to be happy and to become united? Why would he basically make those he loved and created segregated?
