Fun ranks

No support to giving out and making more fun ranks I believe there are enough as is. They are meant to be really hard to receive.

 

So you don't think anymore fun ranks should ever be given out?

 

No I mean the rate at which they are given out is acceptable. In my opinion anyways

 

I wouldn't mind maybe having annual events or an annual event in which you can win a fun rank. That would be much better than them rarely ever being handed out.

The only problem with this, is that a lot of people might assume that people with these ranks are automatically trusted or have a high prestige in the community. Why might they think this? Well almost all of the fun ranks are being possessed by mods or admins, who do hold more trust and prestige within the community. When a new user looks and sees that all of the fun ranks are currently possessed by a staff member, they might assume that the fun rank automatically makes them more trusted or have more prestiged. I know I used to think the more ranks someone had, the higher up they were.

The way to fix this, is to make it clear that fun ranks are only for fun, and nothing else. If we can do this, I'd love having some annual events for people to have a chance to win said ranks.

 

Just FYI guys there is a competition winner fun rank given out every year with the new SOTM

But a lot of people don't consider that a fun rank

 

We have used them in the past to get users to do shit for us such as the FAQ or new member PM and stuff. Or admins hand them out. Verts gave me my pirate just because for instance. Also if you make it and it gets accepted you have gotten it.

Hi. Damn was it really that long ago?

The fact that they are hard to receive is necessary, otherwise they'll just become worthless like miniranks.

 

I consider it a fun rank, however, like many people, I do not possess artistic ability. All the other competitions organized by CDT lately have been minirank based, instead of fun rank also.

I suggest having an opportunity every 6 months to win a Fun Rank. It will keep it rare, but you will also at least have a better opportunity. The opportunity should be equally fair to all.

 

Does this mean we're going to see an event with a fun rank prize anytime soon?

 

Honestly I don't understand why I don't have a fun rank lol... Me and Sythe made this site back in 06. He was a brother to me.

Not a guarantee. The community development team is currently under renovation, and Roary wants the event to be on a big scale if there is going to be a fun rank prize. Maybe in a christmas event?
