The money raised do one of 3 things. No but you believe in the way of Christianity, therefore you believe in your church's which try to profit from the money. If they were as holy as they would like you to believe the charity that they recieve would be enough.
I can't stand those televangelists, or whatever they're called. Don't put me in the same boat as them.Because they\you follow the beliefs of the religion and are in league with them. and you bring up another good point to the case about the tv preachers.
If you were smart enough to keep this to the original thread, you would have read how certain churches/companies have given out Bibles. In the case Macroman brought up, a certain company has given away 15 million bibles world wide. That is only to use not to call your own. you must leave it at the church.
As I already said, the priests live off donations and things sold within the church. Even still, what they get is only a portion as some of the money has to go back into purchasing the materials required to perform a mass, and to keep the church itself up to code. Please take the time to read all I have posted. I make a very good argument I think, if not please tell me where I went wrong? Just because I am not religious does not mean I haven't been to a church you can only use there bibles there to get one of your own you must purchase it. as stated before the average amount it costs to press a bible is cheaper than what most Church's charge.
People sell bibles because they cant afford to give them away for free. Usually what the tend to do is work on selling bibles to people who can afford it, and then using the money to give bibles to those who cant. In doing so allot more bibles can be given out. Also there is an organization called the Gideon who have given out more than 15,000,000 bibles world wide.
^^^ You can join them if you go on like that.

They're usually sold at a price which allows them to cover the cost of production.
Also, there's a Christian saying that goes like this: "Don't be like Christians, they're a bunch of hypocrites. Be like Christ"
I know of plenty of Christian organisatiosn that work hard so they CAN give Bibles out to people for free.
APPARENTLY they are using the money to LIVE.
I'm not religious, but your ideas aren't very justified.
The money raised do one of 3 things.
- Pay for the priest's food/where he lives
- Pay to keep the church modern
- Pay to mass produce these bibles

And as I said look at most priests\preachers they live quite lavishly.
God's forgiveness and love is everlasting and free. It's your decision whether you receive God's forgiveness and love or not. However if you want to pretty up God's word, then you might have to pay a little, because it's a consumers world. If I remember correctly when I read the bible it said something about gods forgiveness, love etc. shall be everlasting and free.
You just dont understand.....TJ's thread failed. Now you make a new thread with the same "Fail"
Your a ignorant peice of shit.
This right here, is why people are turning away. MY parish priest lives in a shack-like house around the corner from the church, and has been eating baked beans for the past 3 weeks. He also eats/lives alone. That's just so lavish, isn't it?
I love it how you label every christian as a hypocrite. Thes priests live off the charity they receive in the collection plates. 1 of the collection plates. As I've already said, the other collection plate goes towards the church. As for the 15m bibles. It's a start, however many WERE sold also go into mass production. I honestly have no idea how much bibles are. If you want yours all prettied up with a golden tassel, then fine. I've got 3 bibles, 2 from my school (with educational references), and 1 from my confirmation from my sponsor, all prettied up and nice. You can guess which one was paid for.
Repeating your ideas != winning argument, sir.

I lol'd. Melbourne is not a small town, sir.And I bet you live in a small town as well where there isn't much of a income for him or there isn't a large amount of people in that location with the same religion.
I actually did some research the 25 and 40 or 50 dollar estimates are what I got on average from what I seen online. As well there shouldn't be a need for golden lace and tassel's on your bible it's not a fashion statement it's suppose to be apart of the way you run your life. the whole tassels and lace etc. was just a way for the religionto make more money. If you believe otherwise then you are a fool and I would love to hear your theory on what good having a little extra material on your cover would help you in the afterlife.
/saluteOn another note I only repeat myself because people are too ignorant to realize there question has already been answered, and every thing I have said is the logical answer.
I guess I'm going to hellAnswer this. God is omni potent and has omni presence, correct? If that statement is true then it would be in fact his world. He spoke to the 13 prophets or w\e that wrote the bible. The bible is suppose to be his law. If it is in fact his law then it would not be a consumers world, because it would be his and he could change it. Now if he is omni potent and has omni presence [which means he is a part of everything and can effect everything] wouldn't he be able to change his rule if he wanted to? Thus this means either he is none existent or you're going to hell for dis-obeying you're beloved god.
And if you were a good Christian, you'd understand that ''more fancy'' doesn't constitute ''good'' or ''better''.

I'm not a Christian, so it's not a sin for me to be proud or greedy.

I like how no one defended this until after I posted. Now it seems everyone is.
Don't hesitate to revise your thoughts.

Solution: don't get tassles.

I guess I'm going to hell
Free will is a marvelous thing, and this isn't a debate on whether God exists, or is <insert omni-word here> mind you. It's an debate on whether Christian's are hypocrites.
Yes but some people would like to have a nice bible. Why do you want clothes that cost $100+ when you could get a t-shirt from a store for $10-20? It is the same principle. Some people like to have a good quality-good looking bible.
Everyone that has posted also has to understand that christians dont need bibles. They choose to have them.
Proverbs 16:11, TLB.
"The Lord demands fairness in every business deal. He established this principle."
God has given us free will. Here is an example. If humans created artificial intelligence.
Lets pretend that I invented a robot with artificial intelligence and in this case I would be "God".
The robot would have free will. I gave the robot a book that would help them live good and pure lives.
I had control over every part of the robots life. I could monoter him at all times on my computer. I could destroy him at any second and delete his code. I could know his every move since I programed him.
If you expect God to rule in our lives, It would be like me taking away the A.I. and the robot would simply be a computer.
Now lets say I made 7 billion robots with A.I. And I placed them on a different planet. I let them start a civilization. I also set up a religion where I am "God" If they server me after they wear out and stop opperating I can either "delete their code" or "Send them to a better place" (couldn't think of a heaven for robots...)
Do you understand?
Also God will never change his rules. Why would he?
Big enough, the primary school connected to that school has 500+ kids. I don't know how else to give you a better idea. I guess we're stingy bastardsMelbourne isn't a small town but how big is you're religions community in your area?
So don't buy it with tassles... lol...as I was saying tassels etc. is just a marketing scheme to get more money.
No I don't. Unless you tell someone how to live their life, and then don't live it that way yourself, then you're a hypocrite. I don't push my beliefs on anyone, unless they want to hear it and I certainly don't tell anyone to do something, unless I'd do it in their place (religious or not). As I've said, if I want a prettied bible, I'm willing to pay for it. If I don't, then I've got two sitting in my school bag for free. Want one?you would have to accept that you're a hypocrite, there for. /win
I don't believe I'm noble BECAUSE I believe in God. I don't believe I'm any "higher" than any person on this Earth irl. That is my point he WOULDN'T change his rules there for the Christian religion is corrupt and anyone who believes in it is as corrupt hypocrite by association because you believe you're a noble being and are righteous when in fact you're breaking the very rules you serve under.
