How so? Just because a user isn't a member of sythe they should be treated differently?

Sythe does not support scamming on off-site blackmarkets even when the person scammed is not a sythe member, why should someone being scammed on RS be different.

Lets all be blunt here. Runescape is just a game, in which we are breaking the game's rules or terms of service by Real World Trading and botting etc. Scamming is only not allowed because of the sake of Real World Trading. Even in rule breaking, there has to be some honesty. Thus the sythe platform's point of view; maintaining a craigslist like site for Runescape by banning and frowning upon all scammers.

However, it is simply a market. At most, sythe should restrict what can or cannot be traded due to legal issues. Such as credit card theft, pins or *******s, etc. Those should not be allowed. Selling a glitch to gain an unfair advantage in dueling is not scamming in anyway. Nor is it breaking any Sythe rules.

Using such a glitch would be no different than botting or buying gold. It gives an unfair advantage in a game we cheat.

Morally I could see how people could feel this would be scamming if they feel so sensitive about the subject. But then again, these people might be the same ones that sell and buy billions of gold everyday, breaking Jagex's rules.

I think if we don't take a zero tolerance stance against all on and off site scamming then the community will be negatively effective. Sythe is not a fence for your stolen goods - take rules like no selling cracked accounts or recovered accounts. These were obtained through defrauding someone, and if you look at a stake glitch you are defrauding them by not playing honestly. Buying billions of gold isn't going to hurt someone else and botting isn't directly hurting anyone else, but stealing someones money is.

Duel glitches and rwt'ing both provide advantages but a glitch differs in that you steal someone else's money. Duelers go in to duels thinking that they have a 50-50 shot at winning, when you use a glitch, you are bringing a gun to a knife fight.

When I rwt, the only person who loses is jagex, who is not a person and tbh actually gains from my rwt in that I keep players interested in playing the game and paying for membership every month. Jagex also made an ass-load of money from botters continuously renewing their subscriptions

Jagex doesn't really earn money from botters. People from Runescapewalmart chargeback their payments after transferring the cash and getting banned if I'm not mistaken.

    Hear, hear

Naturally, it's tough saying "this way of taking advantage of people and getting their items is OK but this other way isn't." As far as why luring is OK and bug abuse isn't, the way I see it, a person who isn't stupid can avoid being lured, whereas a person who takes every possible precaution against bug abuse can still fall prey to an exploit of which they have no knowledge. Luring isn't cheating, and bug abuse is, which I think is the important distinction between them.

In my opinion, selling exploits/glitches shouldn't be allowed but selling tactics for legitimate ingame activities such as moneymaking/flipping (and luring) should be.

    Just my two cents

Botting and RWT don't really affect an individual directly, but scamming, luring ect do. I think of it as, am I really hurting anybody by real world trading? I doubt Jagex are bawling their eyes out.

Sythe is a marketplace before anything, and the job of a marketplace (since they were invented all those years ago.) is to provide the traders a safe place to sell their wares. As I said Sythe hasn't been a cheating site in a long time. We allow botting, yes and we promote real world trading but we do not promote scamming. These are not thieving actions, and if sythe was lax in the rules against scamming in outside the site that would make us hypocritical. Botting has no victim, buying gold has no victim; these actions harms no one, but glitching for an unfair advantage does. I still wonder why we allow luring because social engineering is against the rules and it is just a form of SE.

I am not sure why people believe this is a Runescape Cheating site, because it isn't. This is a Runescape black market.

Unfortunately, I think there will always be alot of controversy when it comes to the ethical standpoints behind alot of these types of activities. While they are all essentially the same thing (scamming), there are large gray areas that make them arguable and make the rules seem unclear and confusing.

With that said, it would be nice if we could have some detailed clarification as to why certain "scams" are allowed, yet others are strictly frowned upon at Sythe. If not clarification, then maybe consistency instead, by making all scenarios where you scam/trick/decieve somebody into losing all their wealth a bannable offence.

    Your theory is broken.
You distract a guard while your friend robs a bank. (unlikely)
You're going to jail, no ands or buts about it. You helped the scammer/lurer you should be held responsible as well.

All of these arguments have been had before. The Staff's stance is not going to change anytime soon, just to let you all know.

I totally agree; glitching in the duel arena should be against the rules.

In my own opinion its just as bad as scamming someone.

I agree with the post above, I think any glitch to gain money is as bad as scamming, also glitches in the arena can get you banned on rs.
