Do young children see things older people don't?

I have been researching various different things on the web, such as what happens when humans die (From a post on this forum) and other various things.

I then came to think of the question "Do children and animals see things that older people don't?" So i came here to ask on some of your views.

My sister, who is aged 4 used to see things in my old house. She used to say "There is a man standing in the doorway" It scared me a bit when she started doing it, but i got used to it after a while..

My mother used to think that it was her father, as he had passed away a few years before my sister was born, my mother used to tell me that he was just watching and keeping us safe.

Have any of you had any encounters similar, where your younger siblings would tell you that there is "Somone/Something" they could see?

I'm not looking for trolls, so please don't come here to troll.

 

I know that younger children can hear things that older people don't, but I don't think they see anything that others don't.

 

No its never happened to me, but some kids are more observant than adults and they can notice things that other people can't

Of course children have better hearing and are able to hear high pitched noises.

 

If they are hallucinating and hearing and seeing people and things that are not there, they need to check into a psychiatric ward.

 

This is kinda interesting. Probably because they are younger and have a greater imagination, they would see more things that older people would not.

 

I doubt it. Physically there's no difference in what we can see and hear... maybe better and less damaged eyes and ears. but same shit.

 

Very interesting topic. I've read somewhere that really young children do see things that we can't. People say it's ghosts, and other supernatural things.

 

The idea behind all this is usually that children are more in touch with the spirit world/realm, being "fresh" to the world and mostly innocent. Also, people who have had near death experiences or have died and been brought back tend to have roots in this realm and therefore can see some things other do not.

Animals follow basically the same line of thought, they are more in touch with the spirit world/realm and are innocent.

I personally have strong beliefs in all of this, especially having been one of those people who died and came back, and now sees things from time to time.

Well for 1 thing they hear things older people cant

 

ehhh, one time when I was little, I thought I was talking to my uncle who drowned and died earlier that year.

 

There are logical reasons for why anyone would see a ghost, I think the whole "spirits" or "ghost" idea is crap.

 

I don't believe any of this, the human eye is trained to make out bodies and faces and shapes in darkness which might make you think you see a ghost, same reason why you see faces in the clouds

 

Children have better imagination.

 

The stimuli remains the same, their perception of it however changes. The mind of really young kids generally doesn't have any rational capabilities, and it's still being bombarded with blocks of information to learn. So, when they see something resembling a man in white, they'll probably say it's a ghost, because they've yet to be able to differentiate the difference.

She said it more than once, and sometimes she used to get scared of it and run towards one of us who were in the room.

 

Personally I think it will be to do with the greater imagination span.

I don't think physically we see/hear anything different, although younger people have senses to a better quality.
