not sure if this is the right section, but it's something i've been curious about.
my health isn't really great; renal/liver problems, so this is something that has crossed my mind a few times. for me personally, and this is my opinion* drawn from just how things have been going - i don't think i'm going to live more than 10 years. so in my eyes i really don't have time for a family, *my own one.

that got me thinking, if i got a chick pregnant , not planned* what would i want her to do. i think i would want her to keep it, and make sure the baby has close ties with my family. where i know it will be greatly cared for.

*assuming the cost of raising the child isn't an issue how many of you guys out there would want the same/or not.
also please say how old you are; i'll be 23, at the end of this month.

not really what i was asking, i said if money isn't an issue for you, would you want her to keep it or no.

First of all, I'm sorry to hear about your health problems. Just wondering, where do you draw this 10-year ultimatum idea from? Has a doctor told you something similar? If not I'd say try and have a more positive outlook. Either way, we are all just living our life on this planet and if you want to have a family then I think you should. You said that this is unplanned, so is this woman aware of your health issues? If she is and she is ok with having the baby then everything seems fine. If she is not aware then it would be a very hard subject to talk over, but it is reasonable. Good luck with your future :)

It's not a question of just money. Raising children takes time and patience, and if the parents aren't prepared to give enough of either, then it will be likely to have an effect on the child, the parents, or both.

me personally, i know for a fact my parents would take care of the baby, as they've told me many times (they say it jokingly) but they are actually serious.
reason i said in my first post , wanting the child to have strong ties with my family is because i know my parents would raise my child as money isn't an issue. but most mothers would want to be in their child lives for the most part. it just depends.

You could donate sperm and kinda have it like an open adoption scenario where your family/girlfriend or whatever might have some contact with the child. I don't know exactly how it works but just a suggestion.
