Do you Fear Death?

It's not that easy for me because i lived with my grandmother and she's 100% christian and she was talking about this shit to me many years when i was younger. And in that age brains just absorbs all shit lol.

 

It was just an example, and I'm sure standing on a land mine will be a pretty quick and sure death. I don't fear death, i just fear my life coming to an end. And call me young one lol, i may be young tho I'm still older then you. Il be 20 in a few months, I'm sure I'm not completely ignorant.

I'm not talking about suffering, I'm talking about death, if you knew you where to die tomorrow, even if it was the most peaceful ways, such as pass away in your sleep, Tell me how you would feel?

Wrong, death is not the point of life, living is the point of life. People are not born into the world so they can die, They are born to live a life, to enjoy life, to make a family and carry on the human race, to make the world a better place (hopefully), just because death is apart of life, in no way does it make it the point.

Its naive to say you don't fear death without ever being in a position where you realise, wow, i could have lost everything, destroyed my family, everything i am and knew could have all gone. Iv had a pretty serious motorbike crash, Was very lucky not to die, and it really woke me up, brang me back to reality, that feeling of invincibility all teen ages have was gone.

I guess fear isn't the word I'm after. i mean to say is to not take life for granted, I don't fear the process of dieing, i would just hate to have my existence coming to an early end, to not do all the things i want in life, make a family, whatever. Once I'm old, am very happy with how iv lived my life and what i have left behind, death wouldn't be so scary. To be at your age and not care about death is sad, it shows your quality of life is beyond poor.

 

I don't necessarily fear death. I just fear the unknown. Nobody knows what happens when you die. Nobody will know what words were left unspoken.

 

i cannot provide an answer to this. My morals say that shit happens in life, you get that a lot death will eventually be one of them. However i fear what i may leave behind. but i may change my perceptions as the time comes and embrace it. its a very complex issue in my mind. as most of you can see.

What if Christianity is true? Or Judaism? Or Greek mythology? Or a hypothetical God that humanity has not thought of yet?

 

I am scared of dying, definetely.

 

I do not fear death cause its part of life.

 

I called you young one because you showed the common fear of a child. To fear death is a childish act, as children are the only ones whom feel that they have not completed everything in their life, fulfilled their potential, or anything of the like.

I've had this argument with Shredder, and I won it. Life's single point is death. Everything else is created by man. You feel that YOUR life is meant to accomplish something, or create something, or do something important. It is not, do not forget that you are not the only thing living in this world. Bacteria, animals, plants, people, etc. They all have ONE single thing in common, that's birth, a lifespan, and death. Now, only humans have a superiority complex that makes them feel they may accomplish something. Everything else does its job and dies. In fact, them dying gives life to other things.

It's a cycle, in which death is always the start and the end. Life does not start without death, nor does it end without death. Therefore, the point of life is concluded to be death. Your "desires" in life, or "goals" may make you feel that that is the point, but it is not.


I know, for a fact, that when I die, something else will be born. It's inevitable. That is enough to make me not fear death, because even though I die, the rest of the world will go on, and if it doesn't, something somewhere will go on. I don't have the issues that you do in thinking I'm so important that if I were to die it'd be the end of the world.

No religious argument, or opinion, just solid fact. When you die, something else will come into life. Whether it's as small as a bacteria, or a new born baby, it happens. The point of life, is death.


Furthermore, I have died 3 different times. Each of which I did not have fear before them, and I was very young the first two times, the second time I was 5. I remember EACH experience vividly, and can say for a fact it has changed me. Do I value my life? Of course I do, but that does not mean I will be so selfish as to fear the inevitable. Having died a painful death 3 times, I know at any second it can end. So why live in fear?


Your family, your children, your untold story... It will all die in time, why do you fear that?




Also, a lot of people have brought their opinion of religion into this. I believe it was specifically stated to not do such. If you wanna debate religion, go somewhere fucking else. All you show me is that you're small-minded, and your fear/lack of fear comes from a fictional ideal.

If death was the piont of life, then there would be no piont of life, there would be no reason for life if death was the only reason, Things arent born just to die. Even if your death makes new life, that doesnt mean your like was meant for dieing, it shows more how much life means life, your life is exchanged for another, when you die, more life will come, therefor your life purpose is to create more life. Its like saying the purpose of eating is to shit, Just because its the outcome, doesnt mean its why we do it.

The oldest time was when you where 5!?! Are you seriously telling me at 5 years old you can fully understand and comprehend death? A 5 year old goes to hospital and is terminaly ill and has a week to live, they dont realise what is happening to them, they dont understand what it is to die. If you told a 2, 3, 5 year old they where going to die, they would say whats that? is that like moving?

Are you being serious? im a fucking athiest. You are the one being small minded and asume im religious. If i was religious i would embrace death.
I do not fear death, i dont fear the process of dieing. im not in constant fear. If it happens, it happens, it wont matter to me atall once im dead. I fear death when im in a situation where i am likely to die. I would not just stand there while someone pionts a gun to my head and just accept my death. I would do everything in my power to continue living. Is that such a foolish, selfish thing?

Edit: This isnt a debate on whether death is scary or not, its about people oppinions. This has gone way out of hand, all I was saying was that if death showed its ugly head, i would fear it, say if i had been banging some dirty prostitute that had aids, It would be pretty fucking scary to find out if you have it or not from a test. A single phone call would be telling you that you will either live or die within maybe months. Would you not even worry the slightest? I dont fear death now, why should I? I never said i fear death now, but I would fear death if curtian situations arose.

Well, the idea of death to me isn't as glorious as it is to a religious individual. However, I do not fear death as i have accepted the fact that everything is finite (except perhaps the universe?).

All in all, I feel I'm ready for death more than those who use the idea of a wonderful afterlife to comfort their fears.

 

Hmmm... In the fact that I don't want to die and lose everything I care about...yes...

 

I say yes and no. I think if I lived for a long period of time and grew old and experienced a lot of fun and knowledge that would be enough to take with my death. But for now I would say yes, because I am 14 years young and still have a journey to complete.

 

I've made peace with the fact that I'll be dead soon enough. So I do not fear it.
And if I die, I'll be an anonymous casualty on the battlefield So I don't fear it, but I want my death to be in the name of the Corps.
