DNT users not allowed to enter giveaways and competitions

What I'm suggesting is that users who posses a DNT rank not be allowed to enter any sort of giveaway or community competition.

The reason for this suggestion is pretty simple, the whole purpose of the DNT rank is to encourage users who would normally be banned for their actions to pay back what they owe, and pardon successfully. Giving them the ability to enter giveaways and competitions is essentially allowing them to trade while having a DNT (as they are trading their time for something in return) whether the prize be monetary or ranks, it can still be considered a trade.

If these users are truly DNT then they should not be able to trade anyone under any circumstances and that includes giveaways/competitions.

I totally agree with this however I feel there should be a limit to people who have a DNT for scamming and people who have a DNT for other somewhat malicious activities i.e. Keylogging, Ratting etc... I feel the people who have committed malicious activities should be allowed in giveaways because I feel that scamming people is way more scummy than to just regularly DDOS people over the internet as DDOSing can be used to counter-scam individuals also.

I feel that this could be regulated in two ways. The first is to have separate DNT ranks for Scammers and Blackhatters. This would probably be very confusing as staff would have to differentiate between the two.

The second way would be to have separate ranks such as the "Non-market user" for scammers and "blackhat-market user" to people who commit such offences such as DDOSing, Keylogging and more.

The final way to solve this issue would be to issue a LONGER version of the TWC to people who commit blackhat activities. This would mean there would be a request a TWC section. People who have scammed can continue to get a DNT and people who have used malicious tools can request a 6 month TWC since it is not as bad as well as receiving an obvious temporary ban.

 

I thought this was already a thing? Most if not all competitions I've seen say "you are ineligible to win if you are a DNT/TWC"

I see both sides of the suggestion -

I agree with the post above, it's a conflicting philosophy while trying to allow someone to reintegrate into the communication while also barring them from an exciting part of the community. They are already blocked from the market, which is a big enough part of the forum.

Conversely, obviously we shouldn't want members who have scammed and not repaid their offenses to take more from the community.

Ultimately, I think my feelings tip more in agreeing with OP. Could you imagine if there was a contest with a $500 prize and a known scammer with a DNT won it?

What about something like DNT members are not allowed to enter official contests/giveaways however user-run events can specify whether DNT members are allowed to enter or not?

 

The community has nothing to do with trading while having a DNT, please think your posts through before responding to a suggestion thread

 

If you host a giveaway/contest then it is official. So unless it is posted in the spam forum (which we're not referring to) then it's considered official, whether it's for $1, or $1000

I meant "official" in regards to events run by staff members as part of Sythe.org, while other events can specify whether DNT members can partake or not (the default would be not, I imagine)

 

The point of this suggestion is to leave no room for misinterpretation. Meaning as said in the OP entering a giveaway/contest is considered a trade @Sythe

 

Maybe the DNT users should pay what they owe and stop being coddled by the staff? Clearly users who I don't feel the need to name have been DNT for 6+ months and have made no effort to repay the users they have scammed

Most events already say DNT/TWC are not allowed.

 

Most competition threads are catered to normal market members. They don't normally allow dnt/ twc users to participate. Most community competitions, hosted by cdt/pr, already make this clear. And I think that only DNT(not TwC) members should not be able to participate. They should lose out on the chance to make money or receive rewards. I feel if you are holding a competition yourself you need to be clear about it. Private competitions should be up to the OP, and if any actual cash exchanges it should be rewarded to their scam victims or the community repayment thread if the person who won is DNT.

 

It's a good idea, I've never entered one because it's always been inherently implied to me if not outright written. Can't hurt to put it in the rulebook though.

To the OP, yes I agree Dnt should not be allowed to trade under any circumstances. However any chance a DNT whom owes a debt that enters a giveaway will give any cash reward towards their victims. Most events don't allow DNT participation unless they can win prizes/rewards.

I feel if they can only win miniranks/sg/prizeboxes they shouldn't be allowed to enter unless a staff can find monetary value for their rewards in exchange to give to their victims (if they have any).

I think at the moment there isnt a point for dnt to pardon because they can participate freely and win these reward but not be able to showcase it. They should pardon first then be allowed to win awards.

Otherwise cash awards should be allowed to be won so they can repay victims.

Side note any DNTs that can't seem to get pardoned needs to leave the site on the exit to the right, no I don't know about you people.

 

I would agree with Seraphic, and Sonia here, have it be a payback system and the fact that not all dnt's are because of scamming as well. When you look at both sides of the story here, it wouldn't hurt for a dnt to participate in a event if they are playing by the same rules everyone else is, and should they win I wouldn't see a single problem, kind of regardless of the DNT reason to say the money they win go back into the community, as a sign of goodwill the person has to put their time into winning said event, on the other hand a giveaway is for those who have earned the right to be in it, aka not a dnt for sure.. so half support half not, keep dnt's away from giveaways, but I really see no problem in competitions, as long as the prize isn't truly given to the person unless it's a minirank.
