No he didn't. He reverted a ban that was endorsed by Sythe without consulting Sythe. That is inappropriate and I chose to correct that.

It wasn't sent to him, it was sent to his host, who complied.

I could write a page-long essay justifying Marrow's ban, but it's not worth the effort, because, as you acknowledged, it is my privilege to step in and intervene when I feel it is appropriate.

I gave him a chance by putting him on the global ignore list for a while; he didn't stop.

 

This has nothing to do with me, nor should I be getting involved, but my curiosity is getting the best of me, so I'm pressed to inquire.

How is saving copies of an interesting topic that has the possibility of being deleted considered a threat? This is a serious question, not a sarcastic/rhetorical one. Is it against Sythe rules to archive topics?

What's the point of saving pages from a thread other than to circumvent its deletion/moving to the staff lounge?

 

It's not the saving copies, but rather the threat (and action) of hosting them on a personal website, without the consent of Sythe that's the issue. Correct me if I'm wrong.

 

Like it was said before, the public didn't know that it was moved to the Staff Lounge.

 

As reassurance that the compiled evidence would not have to be compiled again. The threat is spreading it, not saving it.

Thats a staff issue that doesn't really affect anyone but the staff.

I'm also wondering why Tyro was banned by Sythe if he said himself Sythe let him post it.

I honestly thing the only thing that the community really has to worry about (read : IS worrying about), is the fear of speaking their opinion and thinking that they will potentially be banned. I think an announcement stating that these bans were in no way linked to personal opinions would be in order. Of course I may be out of line in saying that, but I do feel that it would help.

EDIT: I realized after the fact that this would likely raise more topics on the question, but if it's become a staff-only issue, just announce that threads on it need to end, and when the issue is resolved we'll get an update. People are just confused.

Except saving the thread in an archive, since Google already does that.

Except Marrow, for obvious reasons.

Except Dracuia, who recieved a pardon from a prior administrator and now that he voices opinion, recieves a reban?

Edit : I guess I should make more of an effort to contribute to the original intent of this thread, and that is that I agree with pretty much everyone in this thread (especially sin666, Suf, and Hahanerd) that this was handled rather poorly, and although the reasons for the bans are not at my discretion, they seem illegitimate in many ways.

My belief is that he was banned due to distributing copies of the post after it was moved. Clarification is needed from Sythe however.
