[DENIED] Sythe Monthly Lottery

A lottery of 3-4 numbers.

How it would work:
- Tickets cost 1-5USD or 07 Mills.
- Participants chose any numbers 1-9.
- Edited threads are void with no refund.
- Each month someone rolls a dice out of the chosen number (99 + 2) (999) (9999), re-rolled until all numbers are unique.
- You win if you correctly guess the numbers (non sequential).
- Can buy as many tickets as you like.

Odd options:
- 3 number lottery: Each ticket has 0.14% chance to win. 100 entrants = 13.7% chance of a winner.
- 4 number lottery: Each ticket has 0.015% chance to win. 100 entrants = 1.52% chance of a winner.
- 2 number lottery + 1-2 special number: Each ticket has 0.41% chance to win. 100 entrants = 41.15% chance of winner.

The pot:
- 90% paid to winner(s). 10% donated to the community repayment scheme.
- Unlimited rollover so pot could get substantial.

Example:
- 2 numbers + 1/2 special number lottery.
- 50 2M tickets are bought. Total pot = 100m.
- 20.5% chance of a winner -> rolls over. 10% extracted to community repayment fund.
- 60 tickets sold next month. Total pot = 210M.
- Someone wins, gets paid 189M, community repayment receives 21M.
- Total raised for CR = 31M.

Difference to this:
- Higher priced tickets, bigger pots.
- No cap on tickets per person, bigger pots.
- Longer collection time, monthly vs biweekly.

Points against the lottery:
- Would need more than 10 people to enter, would that happen?
- Would it be worth the man-hours?
- The amount raised may be too little.

Options:
- Can increase odds and have quickfire or decrease and watch pot accumulate.

EDIT #2: Sythe Gold lottery?! New shop is coming soon for it, so there would definitely be
an incentive to play. Would be nice as it would be easier to automate too. A fun little bit of
gambling which a small %age can get siphoned off to the community repayment scheme!

 

An individual can start this themselves. Soo, thats a nO. It's gambling anyways.

Why does Divine always posting about how Sythe is dead in literally every post.

 

I think that lottery sounds good, butt if it failed once it will fail again.

 

Ah I see, shame! On that lottery however you could only buy one or two tickets, and they were only 200k a piece, leading to a small pot thus small incentive.

It's success would heavily rely on more than 10 people entering, so on second thought maybe it wouldn't work.

 

If it was purely automated to be done with sythe gold or something it might work, but getting collectors that risk getting banned/scamming and other crap isn't worth it

 

A sythe gold lottery would be fun, but probably not worth their time to implement since sg doesn't really do anything

 

Users pay XRP to a pot with a note attached with a name ( sythe name ).
10 XRP = 1 ticket

Admin adds names with ticket numbers and a script runs the odds like a CSGO betting site and the winner is rewarded.

Wouldn’t be that hard to implement but maybe it’s just too much to handle right now.

 

Also there are laws against sythe holding users funds.

@Sythe if users sent funds to Toast Wallet address, would this be considered part of those laws that restricts Sythe from holding money?

I have been told before ( maybe by you ) that sythe can’t hold funds for users, and idk if that would apply here if the funds were sent to “sythe.org” wallet , or a randomly generated wallet.

Sorry just a thought. Would be super simple to manage. Could probably throw together a sub domain site with this exact function tied to users sythe accounts, or even a tab in the user center lol.

 

In my opinion every community should have a non-profit lottery organized. It gives people in the community a chance to gamble, it shouldn't be alot of money, I think a simple 1-100 ticket sale with a random number generator would be the best way to do it. Have people be able to buy 3 tickets each, at 300k per ticket, and then at the end the winner drawn will get 65% of the pot, with second getting 25% and 3rd getting 10%

 

How about we don't gamble?
Anyhow. I don't see any reason for this when there are much better, established places to gamble.

Doing it with sythe gold is cool, but what’s the point when I can just buy sythe gold for cheaper than I could trying to earn some gambling

 

Why buy if you can gamble free?

 

I think this would be too similar to the lottery the mods attempted before.

Right now I think starting with Sythe Gold would be the way to go, if the community want's a lottery. Given the new shop coming too, it would increase incentive to play.
