[DENIED]How False Report A Scammer Threads Are Edited

I believe that if someone makes a thread against a user in the report a scammer section and a staff members looks into it and clears the member by closing the thread and not applying a TWC or DNT they should AUTOMATICALLY retract the member's name and change the thread title to resolved as they close it.

So a scam report would always result in one of these options:

    DNT Applied
    TWC Applied
    Ban
    Name Removed

As it currently is handled, you have to request for your name to be removed from the thread.

Which places the burden on the accused and adds time they are displayed falsely in the scammer section.

For example, I was accused here.

    Brad Kelly

The thread has been sitting there for weeks and I have contacted multiple staff members asking them to edit it and no one responds.

The process should be automatic in my opinion, it would take an extra 15 seconds max to edit the title each time a person is proven innocent.

No support there are way to many risks and downsides to this. There have been very large users that have scammed by large I mean "highly trusted" and If there names wouldn't have been present no one would've been able to warn the community. Bad idea honestly. Not being rude just being honest.

Requesting your name for removal isn't hard and only takes minutes. It would have been a good suggestion if you were targeted and mass reported. But I've never seen anything like on Sythe, so no support unfortunately.

You can report the thread through the button on the top right of the post, if/when the ban evader report is resolved they can remove your name

To address your complaint about being reported twice - by removing your name from a report, a user will not be able to see if its been denied already which perpetuates the problem

Should it be automatically edited upon denial, probably, but its not terribly important as anyone viewing the thread can see it was denied

I've asked 3 staff members and it's been 3 weeks and I can't get my name removed from the above linked thread.

    It's super easy

Not sure why you quoted my post twice. Weird.

Report the thread. If it doesn't get answered contact a moderator on discord. What's so hard? I wrote a moderator a pm and my name was gone within 5 minutes. Don't be that guy that can't take criticism.

5 minutes? As I said I have reported the post and contacted 3 moderators( 1 on discord and 2 through messages on the forum ) and no one responded in 3 weeks.

Perhaps donors get their name edited out easier.

They already remove people's names from threads every day, you just have to "request it".

Which I do and never get a response.

I agree it should only be for people who did nothing wrong & the scam accusation was completely false.

If you don't get a response, contact a moderator in PMs or discord.

I understand that but to do it on every report makes 0 sense to me tbh.

As I said above I tried several ways to contact staff.

    Reported the thread weeks ago
Contacted 1 staff member on Discord 2 weeks ago
Contacted 2 staff members via messages on the forum, 1 a week ago and one Monday

    No response at all.

Maybe to you, it isn't a problem and you can get threads edited. I understand that, but it is a problem for me and it sucks lol

So basically people are already requesting for their name to be removed, like here.

    Resolved

They obviously requested their name removed and it was.

I requested my name to be removed and its been 3 weeks.

I just think the names should be removed automatically in threads where the person did nothing wrong 100%. If there was even a chance the member did something wrong, the name stays because as you said it's risky otherwise.

It would still be the same % of posts getting their names removed as a person wouldn't unless they were eligible.

The point is is that mods have lives as well. They're not always going to respond right away that doesn't mean we should implement a brand new rule because of it. If you know you did nothing wrong than you don't have anything to worry about.

That why first I reported the thread, then I waited a week and asked on discord, then I waited and asked the moderator who handled the report, then I waited another 5 days to ask another moderator, then I realized 3 weeks is too long.

My suggestion would actually make the mods lives easier.

Currently, they have to wait for a person to ask for a name edit. To do that edit the person has to be innocent, thats a given. Instead of waiting for each request they could spend 15 seconds editing the title as they close the post. They either ban the user, make DNT/TWC or edit their name out because they are innocent.

The thread was created because I " use capital letters" in my thread titles and suggests I have something to do with Silent Skrill who is DNT because he stole from another user.

I don't want anything to do with such people, I don't want people to suggest I have anything to do with such people, and I certainly don't want it so when you search me on the forum it shows a thread suggesting so.

False accusations are just being handled far too lightly in general in my opinion and I think the least that could be done is to clear the person's name without them having to ask them for it and waiting 3 weeks.

Well, when it comes that you're proved innocent than you don't have anything to do with those people.

This isn't about having a guilty concious, or worrying if you have done something wrong - it's relevant to web-search results presenting a user who has been proven innocent in the opposite light. It can most definitely, negatively impact a users/businesses reputation.

Imagine Googling your own Sythe.org name and finding it littered wiith false scam reports. It's quite likely that a user entering into a trade for the first time may google their traders username - and if they are presented with search results stating 'lorenzo is a scammer', x10, then without a doubt they wont bother to investigate each thread to see actual outcome of each report.

If a scam report on a user has been proven inconclusive/false, then the title should be amended to reflect so.

Thank you, that is exactly my point. Every day it stays up is a negative reflection on the falsely accused. This may be affecting me now but, it is something that has the potential to affect us all which is why I believe it is a worthwhile suggestion.

The way it is now with having to ask for the title change, it makes the ordeal drag out even more. Some people seem to be able to get the edit pretty fast, but in situations like mine I reached out to 3 staff members and nothing has changed weeks later.

What? A large portion of trust is based on perception. Perception can be true, or it can be misguided. False reports can be damaging regardless of whether they’re resolved.

I actually agree with this, for the most part. Sellerman makes great points as well.
In theory, the report to change is enough.. but doesn’t always work out as it should (I.E. what you’re experiencing).

@Brad Kelly to be fair, I think you have to know which cards to play. There are staff members that would have taken care of it for you ASAP had you contact them.
