[DENIED] Discord & Staff

I only use discord to trade, skype is ancient and unsafe and filled with spam bots, telegram is used by hackers and other unsavory people and is just as bad as discord.

Where exactly would you like people to talk and trade at lol? Those are the big three and none of the three are good options.

Discord at least u don't get spam bombed and has nice features.

 

We can only babysit people so much. There's ample information out there and people engaging in any trades, especially those of a high value, should make sure that they're seeking this out and taking it in. The majority of people have abandoned Skype and Teamspeak at this point and utilise Discord just fine. Needless to say I don't support this... Not that I can trade anyway! xd

He isn't stating that discord trading is bad, he is stating that people can be banned for using discord in regards to trading. In all honesty this should be taken as a safety measure. We can't guarantee someone won't get banned mid-trade which would lead to some shady crap going on. I'll support cause I don't want to see reports regarding this down the road.

 

When i applied for Hypesquad I told Discord that I was using their platform to trade, are you sure they don’t allow it? It seems pretty self explanatory as to why HF members would be banned. That’s not really related to Sythe users.

 

Can you elaborate on this? Telegram is actually a very decent messaging platform

 

On telegram, anyone can direct message you. They dont need to add or accept your friend invite. They also show your mobile phone number which is weird. People can just upload stuff to the group. The UI isnt really flexible either.

 

No I cant. Lets just say that telegram is a very common platform used by certain hackers in certain areas and in some hacking communitys people share their telegrams instead of skypes and discords.

It is not all unsavory people but its security features and the people I know who use it would not encourage anyone to trade on telegram at all. Spam bots to skype are hackers to and launders to telegram.

Discord at least regulates things(I.e great example was elite-ranks discord closed for violating US gambling laws/violations that personally relates to this forum.) Discord has many problems but compared to its fellow alternatives theres no question what the better messaging system is for trading.

I'm going to suggest using an IRC backed onto Xenforo. It's probably the most simple chat out of all the ones.

 

Same goes for discord unless you change your settings

Your phone number is hidden from other users. They can only see it in the following three cases:
- If they already have your phone number saved in their address book.
- If you've shared your number yourself (with 'Share My Contact Info')
- If you have their phone number saved in your address book and you message them (as if they get your SMS).

They won't see your number otherwise — for instance, if they find you via our global search or in a group chat.

That is true however it works as a means of method for communicating, i suppose that would just be personal preference

I agree that this is true however this shouldnt be a reason to disregard the pro's while using their service (telegram)

Not trying to argue here but merely wondering why telegram would be such a bad alternative, its actually safe in terms of privacy (like discord) but with static usernames (like skype), it also comes with a decent desktop application as well as a lightweight mobile app (unlike skype and discord*)

*their mobile app is not lightweight
