[DENIED] Sythe trading discord

New sythe trading discord owned by an alt account incase the discord and owner gets banned. Voice concerns and whether you support the suggestion.

seems everyone has a "trading discord" nowadays, but i feel sythe should have its own again

 

None of those discords are/will be endorsed by sythe and compare nowhere in size to the current sythe discord.

 

pls do this, all these random no namer discords are trash

Support, the black market scene will always be related to trading so it doesn't make sense to not have that option available on the #1 communication platform for Sythe.

Having 2 different Sythe discords might be a bit confusing at first for new comers but surely there must be a way to make it work. It would make a great project for the development teams.

 

Supportin this but I doubt sythe endorsing it would do anything.
There's two trade discord's by sythe mod's already anyways.

Trade Bungalow >> Dunworry

 

Agreed with @Pageth , what would endorsing even entail? Keep in mind they removed it for a reason.
On that note, id still like to see the official statement made by discord that made sythe decide to shut down all market activity. Allot of hear say not allot of actual "proof" on what makes discord shut down channels.

 

This benefits sythe and market users a like, I'm yet to join a discord that validates a users identity using their token and doesn't allow people to talk before having their token validated. I don't know the intricacies of discord scams but It did add some level of security. This is why the trading channels were removed Imgur
Various discords popped up after the sythe discord was removed but it all just seems clustered, you have to join several discords to reach the audience that was readily available before, sythe is a trading forum it needs a trading discord.

What does the token system actually prevent tho? I've seen multiple users with either outdated discords or multiple discord accounts in the sythe discord so what exactly is that extra level of security? (interesting semi related topic: Lock down new Discord accounts to channel where members are not listed)

The sythe discord has about 2k accounts in it, most larger trading discord have about 700/1300 people in them, idk when the last time sythe discord did a "inactivity sweep" but i have a feeling most current trading discords are on par when it comes to active audience.

 

Lets say the token does nothing for security and that the sythe discord is on par in terms of active users with other discords. What would the negatives of sythe having a trading discord be? The only reason I can see people being against it is that it'd steer people away from personal discords like the one you run, unless there's a more wide reaching market forum than Sythe, why not have a discord?

 

I personally didn't see the point of removing it in the first place since you can only get in the discord if you sign up and get a token from a website that's basically build for a black market gaming community, so surely they would ban it anyways no matter what's being advertised in the discord (Just my personal opinion)

Also never said it was a negative to have a sythe trading discord, Id be all for it bringing it back but like you stated it was removed due to admins being scared of it being closed. Since it seems no one seems to know exactly what the rules are in regards to black market activities who's to say an alt discord endorced by sythe wouldn't just cause a chainban for all sythe related discords?

And in regards to it steering people away from personal discords, an official sythe discord where you can advertise your own discords would only benefit "personal" trading discords as they can easily advertise to a wider platform.

TLDR; Id be all for the return of the trading sections in the original discord but i think the focus should be on figuring out what exactly is and isn't allowed when it comes to discord.

I actually suggested this when I was banned (I believe I was one of the first ban waves).

At the current moment its unclear what Discords stance is on marketplaces, I've sent several emails to their support team asking for clearer guidelines and answers to yes or no questions, they respond with extremely vague answers and really just link their TOS. I assume its because their support team doesn't fully understand their stance so they just kick the can down the road.

With that being said, I think this is a great idea and would definitely get some use from the gold sellers.

 

Support. After all sythe is one of the biggest blackmarkets for runescape.

 

My personal opinion, from someone who doesn't really use Discord, is I don't think it's really needed. I only have three trades done here, but I have done everything through Sythe.org private message, and just communicated as friends personally on Discord, but use Sythe PM system for the actual business at hand.

From what I understand there may be complications running a Discord to do blackmarket activities which are 'illegal' in regards to the game & the company that make the game. If you're doing something on Discord that you can get banned for in-game and promoting it for that game, can't you get a Discord ban as well?

I'm new to all this Discord stuff, so I am completely nuetral on this one. I don't support, but I don't not support.

 

Whats wrong with adding a marketplace to the current sythe discord?

 

From what I can see, there is a possible rule of not having Discord blackmarket servers which don't comply with the games rule's or there may be risk of having the server removed / person banned from Discord?

That's all I have been able to see.
