I've noticed alot of threads have people "reserving" their post, for whatever reason. Perhaps exposure. Sadly however, little of them actually get back to their post and enter the event they "reserved" their post for. Examples can be seen here:

It's spam just like "Support" in the suggestions section. There's no reason to "reserve" your post since technically you obtain more exposure by simply posting a new reply.

I have not yet reported those posts, but I can only imagine they will get rejected simply because eveyone does it.

My suggestion is simple; forbid "reserving" posts, anywhere, especially in the event section.

You did this in the most recent event thread lol :p

Maybe people are just saying they've reserved their place in the competition? I feel like these probably aren't spam posts; they're just people saying "I am doing this thing" in fewer, less precise words

Correct, figured if they may, I may. But there’s no reason to considering there’s no limit for participants.

Totally fair, and I agree with you. I'm hesitant to remove the posts only because community interest (even the spammy kind) is good for the CDT and the events they host.

Mark me down as a "Support" since removing the posts is reasonable. I wouldn't really want to see infractions for this kind of thing though.

It doesn't happen very often but this can be reported as spam already. Unless the OP of whatever event specifically says otherwise, it is still technically spam because it doesn't add any value to the thread. I see it increasing engagement in the events but I agree that it is spam. I don't think an official rule is added but it can be reported as spam going forward and those posts will be deleted and the posters will be reminded of the rules.

After staff discussion, these type of posts on event threads won't be punishable. It drives community participation on the events, helps us get more sponsors (more prizes for everyone!), and allows people to participate in events if they forget once they've posted. As always, staff reserve the right to delete posts if abused.
