[Denied] Relax the "added you = spam" rule

Support 1, I usually look at suggestions and in my head would decide if I would support this or not but when I finally decide if I do or don't support a thread I find it difficult to put my thoughts into words.

 

Agreed. Both seem antiquated.

 

I agree with #2 in a way however we added the rules so people would stop spamming discords...

This way of them saying pmed you or added can also be bad bc what if an imposter is scouting threads and see's someones discord and notices all they said was "added" then using that situation to add said user instantly trying to snipe them.

I think market needs to be more of a strict guidline IMO it would help cut down on scams as well + do a check on the last 100 disputes majority of them are "new" / returning users making a quick buck scamming / offering free "services" for "vouches" then cleaning accounts.

Agree with #1 though since I don't see a whole lot of that subsection.

True, pretty harsh to punish (Maybe) New members that want to help the website, after a infraction you dont want to post here again.

 

So maybe make the exemption for new members but people who clearly have been here should be warned/ infracted as its the most lazy way of posting a quote.

Also I was warned / infracted for saying Added or pmed before so.

#1 i support, mods just need to take common sense approach, its clear cut the people who genuinely support an idea and those who are just being retarded.

#2 is more tricky with market threads, with the amount of moderation gone into not excessively bumping etc to support "newer traders", relaxing a rule like this just entices the thread owner to ask people to post on his thread in a non-excessive way so their threads are rebumped.

If a customer happens to leave a vouch on your thread, currently the thread owner is required to report to post to have it removed/moved or they face an infraction. How this is a thing i dont know, but to then allow "added you" posts doesnt make sense. Address the issues in those forums before laxing other measures in the same forums.

 

I'm going to offer support. It is a solid idea I don't have much more reasoning than that.

#1 - completely agree with. People tend to reiterate the same idea that's been posted ten times in order to add thought on a suggestion. An "I support." could be just as beneficial in those scenarios.
#2 - A little more tricky and in theory COULD have slight implications.. but I think it would be helpful and support.

 

I know that some service providers used to ask their customers to write something along those lines on their thread to get a free bump. I don't mind if someone writes that on my page but imo it should be against the rules for a provider to ask their customers to do so.

 

yeah just comes down to the prove it scenario. Could end up with legitimate people getting locked by competition having people spam there threads. Good way to market ban/thread lock your competitors for a while!

probably best left alone for the second option. Personally think it should be reverted to how it was. You can post on your thread every 8 hours, customers can vouch there. Worked for so long not sure why intervention in free market became a thing

 

IMO PM'D, Added etc should be kept as spam. If someone is added or PMed he's getting notification so there's no point of informing anyone additionally on thread.

 

"I support" is a great way to get free post count, if someone is going to reply to a suggestion then they should state why, saying "yeah I support / don't support" doesn't contribute anything at all.

 

I don't see this as a valid argument, as forum-wide, there are copious ways to gain 'free' post count.

Furthermore, what if the primary reason for a suggestion being supported is one evident and obvious reason that has been exhaustively stated in the OP (or by other members) already - what difference is there between saying I support, or saying I support 'because of the same reason x1000'?

No doubt certain members may use this for 'free' post count, but I would wager they would be a small percentage, and that having a rule in place that looks to minimise an already minuscule occurrence is inefficient, and may detract from the larger positive.
