[Denied] Relax the "added you = spam" rule

Not necessarily, a user may get hundreds or thousands of invitation requests daily, and may only accept those that they know whom they belong to/are associated with. Many users decline to accept add-requests/invitations, unless they know the sender/where it came from.

 

Personally if someone doesn't support a suggestion I would like to know their thoughts as to why they don't, or do support.

As far as posting saying added you, etc I feel this should be something that is dealt with on a case by case basis. Obviously it's pretty easy to tell if someone is doing it simply to avoid the waiting period to bump their threads.

I had the same thought when I was mod. If a OP makes a clear and comprehensive case for something and you don't have anything to add except that you agree with the points made then I think that's a valid post.

Whilst I would like to somewhat agree with the service related stuff, I do feel as though the rest of us who are high end service providers get punished so why shouldn't the rest?

At the end of the day, the staff cannot take back all the bans and warning shots they have given people, harassed the shit out of people like @Yellow_Hat_OSRS_Services for speaking on pricing he feels worth his time etc, it's a 50/50.

 

Isn't it about time we got equal ruling for everyone?

It should be a case by case basis when it comes to rules like these.
Yes, they are considered spam - but is it REALLY spam if I've only posted "I support this idea" once?
Or if I'm wanting to buy an account, is it REALLY spam if I posted "Hey I added you on Discord, we can talk there"? That way the person can link itsJonny on Sythe and itsJonny on discord together.

Now if I've gone through 6 posts and +1 each one, and say "Added" on each one, then it's obvious they are boosting their post count and deserve an infraction.

 

Agreed, support is support. And if someone wants things to be short and sweet and doesn't abuse that, then leave it be. People just want money and to move on.

 

I’m actually not in favor of this suggestion, because it contributes nothing at all in both cases. I see that I’m in minority of not supporting this so this will most likely get approved - but I prefer to see meaningful comments from users. Yes they can still farm posts by repeating the same reasons over and over again but atleast it makes it harder to farm posts this way. Instead of infracting you could also just remove the post and inform them about the rules.

 

The primary argument, i figure, for this is that people use some of these methods to gain free post count.

But that in itself is not that bad, in my opinion. It's not exactly the best metric for trust for scammers, and the requirements for it (like mod or so) also look at other merits, not just post count.

Overall, active posting boosts community activity. Which is a good thing.

I feel like this could cause wars between gold sellers. They could get people to post on their competitions thread in order to get then banned and nobody would know the wiser that someone else told them to post.

 

I support, it makes life easier for everyone involved and lets OP check his discord/skype where he left his contact details.

 

I support relaxing it everywhere except the gold selling forums like @Superfluous suggested. I think that would make it pretty damn good. That would in turn prevent the gold forums from having people paid to bump their threads (didn't think that'd be a problem but now I definitely see that it can be lmao).
