[Denied]Adjust Requirements for becoming OMM

Ok so first off, I absolutely disagree with the change of tightening up the OMM application requirements based on that I don't see it personally changing anything. It most likely won't stop anyone from applying.

As mentioned earlier, the voting process will still remain the same. So the questions with the voting process still lies.

At the current stage. I think 2 things need to change

1) Sythe.org Official Middleman Assistance & Guidance Thread

The thread above is currently inactive, there's nobody posting on it. I feel it would definitely help if there were more OMM's posting on it, as this would definitely provide more clarity on both new and existing OMM applications as well as providing new insight on anything people are confused with (like this thread is doing)

2) Questions regarding the voting process

So from my understanding of it, all the OMM's vote on an application and then it is moved to the upper staff lounge where Global Moderators and Administrators vote on it.

If this is the case, does this now mean that if an Administrator/Global Moderator posts an OMM application, they have the ability to vote on their own thread AND/OR see the result of it passing?

Additionally, how comes that Global Moderators/Administrators who aren't OMM's already get to vote on an OMM application?

 

• The reasoning for not having very many accepted applicants, is because of lack of applicants. Making the application harder would also make you get less applicants
• Check in with the applicants as to why they were denied, maybe it will give some some reasoning as to why they were denied
• The application itself is just that, an application. AFTER the application is completed the OMM's and Upper staff look through and give reasoning as to why and why not the person should be accepted. This includes things like ability to MM, how you control trades, your recent dealings on Sythe ECT.

In addition, I think as the only person to have to fill out 4 Middleman applications (and one mini application) I can say that the system works, (or did when I applied to be MM) The feedback you get is useful and you should be working on it to become a better member.

 

I'd like to think of it as a job application. Yeah, you meet the minimum requirements but they're looking for a more qualified candidate. I'm not saying the staff of this site isn't qualified but that's just my view on this.

 

Whole point of the pardon process is clean slate.

If users are considered a risk / not reformed then their pardons are denied.

The pardon process is difficult to pass as it is; without adding to the fact that this process would still hinder you as a user in future.

 

if 3/4ths of the staff are ex pardoner's than they are not hindered in any way.

 

You have to have a completed application to apply, those "half done apps" are in process of being completed, hence the title pending and getting proofs.

Also, you're able to put any trades in the "anything under $50" even if it's over $50 - My application had a $200 trade in the $100 section because I had no trades in the span I was applying for $100-$199. It is there for volume of trades and how you hold yourself with a small trade compared to a big trade.

1 trade showing you have done a $1000 MM would not hurt, 3 trades showing $550 would not hurt. As @Management mentioned, the OMM application thread itself is very inactive and needs to also be maintained properly.



This particular thread is turning into pardoned users being able to OMM- that was not my intent and I have no comment on this. Please let's get back on topic of reforming the OMM application or somehow improving the process.

Also, if the rules are written that you will be reached back within 7 days (which isn't the case right now, please also edit and correct that portion).

 

Purge the previous OMM's, inactive fucks available 1hr / week to OMM. Get rid of em, new OMM's are needed. Then next rotta of mods, rinse and repeat.

 

As it was mentioned many times, increasing the requirements for an application wont really affect the process. It will still come down to a vote/discussion by upper staff no matter what requirements the application calls for. Having said that, adding 1 or 2 more higher amount trade requirements is not harmful in anyway.

On another note as @Chloe and @Fear have mentioned, I think there's some inactive OMM's. It is a hard earned title that represents sythe itself, but you shouldn't have it if it isn't actively being used IMO. I would propose making a retired OOM or ex OOM rank for those who are inactive or dont MM anymore. Also a requirement to keep the rank seems like a good idea.

In my eyes, I dont think accepting more would be wise anyway..

This is true lol, I just still dislike the idea of new ones.

 

I don't think there's enough trade volume on this ded site to warrant any extra OMM's so don't see the point of making the process any easier.

 

I very much enjoyed the read that @Bolt has formally presented here. I am not one who believes in bringing up a problem unless there is a solution you are bringing to the table as well.

I have noticed, when reading through denied OMM apps, that incredibly notable and trusted individuals were being denied and it left me wondering one thing. Why? These individuals have shown their commitment (long before I was even here) and their willingness to help the community for years on end.

I very much support this as from the looks of things, this current system is incredibly outdated and to be blunt, not fair to those who are wanting to strive for this. There most definitely should be a proper and updated guideline that is being actively searched for instead of what is currently here today. I would go so far as to look for a vouch for a $2k MM transaction as well since mass amounts of gold are traded.

All in all, support. I feel that people who work hard should have the right to know what is expected of them when applying. Incredibly well-thought suggestion @Bolt .

Good suggestion @Bolt, I don't know why so many people are getting denied. A few more getting accepted amongst the application pool would be a good start . . . maybe even a residency as a Pre-OMM (has to do middleman trades for free for x amount of time / a certain amount of $) would be somewhere to start.

I'm not going to get into it as it's not my job and I don't think it's too much of ur business but the most recent applications that were denied had good reasons as to why they were denied, the people who applied know (or I believe they do) why their applications got denied.

 

That's fine, enough is enough. I like the way how it is then, if valid reasons are given for denials.

Also I support inactive OMM's having to reapply and they do have to according to our rules but our Head Middleman who's been in charge of that hasn't been very active lately, I also support having to have one middle man above $1000 on your OMM application as that shouldn't be too hard to get if you middleman/are trustworthy for long enough.

In response to this, the last few OMM applications were voted on pretty late because once again the HMM (Head Middleman) either wasn't too active or wanted to bunch them all together, not too sure which one it was but regular OMM's don't get to decide when stuff gets voted on.

 

I think that to be an Official Middleman on the site you should have to have these requirements that you suggested.

I also think that there should be full background checks on the Sythe history to make sure they have never done anything deemed
untrustworthy while being on the site which may pose a risk.
