I want to compliment the CDT on their recent endeavors.

 

Great job putting together recent events. Keep it up. S/O BB for GFX'ing every thread.

brought in around the same number of ppl as the poke event last time so would be another banger back to back

more contests that are gaming related. This is a forum about gaming afterall
(doesnt have to be Runescape/other popular games, can be simple java/board/card games as long as its a community engaging event)

 

More contests would be awesome. Love what the CDT is doing, have become good friends with some of the members of the CDT.

Incentives with little minute things such as miniranks draws a lot off entries. I think more of those should be done - a lot of fun!

Pokemon even was perfect although the fan-base for pokemon may not be as big as the base we could get from some other games. Maybe doing bracket contests for various things such as NCAA (march madness) would be cool.

 

Minirank Voting needs to be done via community.

1) Ridiculous that one participant should be able to recieve 4/10 entries - also after hearing this *same* person (unnamed) got 4/10 entries in a previous Summer event?
2) Should be a limit on how many entries accepted from one person... kinda ridiculous. Ties back up to #1.
3) I saw miniranks that I know for a fact looked better and were less generic than some of the ones that just had a FKN santa hat on. I mean come on?
4) I know you guys are busy, but theres no reason that the voting should have seemed so.... pushed off and insignificant - to come to this final 10. I will vote and participate - and leave my feedback here. Just feel snubbed/unfair a little bit - not just to me..

People even offer to help CDT ALL the time - i even offered to run my own kind of xmas event. Just my .02


edit - another point. If Christmas event points are EARNED based off having entries accepted, how tf are people supposed to get more entry points when a single member is getting 4/10 Miniranks entered into contest. That snubs THREE different people out of event points in the contest.

 

I am not saying we vote as a whole on ALL the ranks - I am saying that we narrow it down, just like the CDT team would, but as a COMMUNITY. Does that make sense? i think the results would have been far different from the 10 the CDT came to. Then we vote again on the top 10 for winner.

If the biggest minirank happens to be some funny troll MR, so what? It was the most popular, like you just mentioned about it being my opinion down below. That is your own to keep. We would narrow down, as a whole, then vote, as a whole. Just keep eliminating the least popular until 1 left. Or just until 10 and then vote.

If that's the case about attempting in the event = entry, that's fine. I just know that there are weird rules where I saw people just posting an easy 100 point picture on the one Christmas game for the entry, although that didn't entirely follow rules of requiring a video playing.


edit - also for example dudes head/top santa hat doesn't even really entirely fit? It is cut off, not sized entirely right. or just my visual error? Just don't see how this gets EIGHT full votes over some other options. Not bad, but 'sloppy' tbh..

Final answer is that the team voting on such things is too small. when a decision needs to be made of this caliber, community needs to be involved considering we are the ones that will be essentially voting on the final say anyways. how bad does it suck that the true winner is being snubbed and may not even be in the final 10 voting? CDT + others to equal a voting team of 8 is too small. Final thoughts. Final feedback.​

would also like to know what other methods have been done in the past that were mentioned in these comments above. I think better can be done, but there's no reason the voting prior to the final 10 shouldn't be expanded from 8 to a lot more. The small pool is just too biased, whether you guys on the inside want to admit to that or not. More people on the inside is better for the whole.

People vote for what they like.

 

That's so weird. Its almost as if they were picked based off of somebodies skills and abilities, rather than just picking it because somebody submitted one.

 

Maybe it seems that more people could make up the picking pool, for more variability. Or even limit 1 entry to each participant and then allow voting on them all. Maybe I'm wrong but not the only one that thinks you guys for sure are capable of an even better job. thats been the response from the community outside of TC.

The 'skills and abilities' - it's making a freaking minirank? Are you kidding me @Tyler . That's blasphemy. It takes 0 ability or skill to copy a picture and make a minirank. The ones provided from Naughty, i believe, were not satisfactory to pick 4 out of, bottom line.

Rework SOTM reward points ( I first posted in the suggestions was told by a mod to post here)

I feel that the SOTM rewards points need to be reworked

How is it that 4 points gets you a tier 1 prizebox which is basically worthless ($5-$10 max)
and 6 points gets you a minirank of choice which goes for around ($150)

I feel that SOTM only benefits the people who are good at graphics everyone can take a hike
I see its mostly the same 5-10 people who enter. The top 2-3 out of those 10 mostly always win.
That's like $150+ in a few months.

Most people are not good at graphics only a few.

My suggestion is to only allow these awards and possibly

A minirank of choice is to much ($150 value).









Current way:

How to enter, and what type of graphics do you accept?
All entries must be sent to @SOTM.
There will be a new graphics challenge every month, with a theme picked by the previous winner.
Entries may be submitted throughout the first two weeks of the month, followed by voting.
The graphics challenge encompasses all art styles, feel free to submit something different and unique!

Rules!
If you are submitting an IRL piece you must include a copy with your username next to it.
Pre-made, copied or troll work is not allowed.
You cannot include your name in your work or anything else which may differentiate you from other artists. (except for IRL submissions).
Entries must abide by the signature rules (Maximum dimensions of 650x350).

Winner minirank: (Provided to winner of any monthly graphics challenge)



Double Winner minirank: (Provided to winner of any 2 monthly graphics challenges)



Penta Winner minirank: (Provided to winner of any 5 monthly graphics challenges)



At the end of the year whomever won the most Monthly Graphics Challenges will win a Competition Winner fun rank (or a different fun rank if you previously own competition winner, excluding exclusive fun ranks).

Everyone who participates in a Monthly Graphics Challenge with a valid entry will receive 1 point for that month.
CDT has the right to disqualify any low effort entry to avoid points farming!
The winner of the Monthly Graphics Challenge will receive 2 points for that month.

Points can be spent on the following:

4 points can be used to trade in for a sythe.org Prizebox.



6 points can be used to trade in for a Minirank of your choice (excluding certain mini's not obtainable by other means).

i would say hike the points up to 12 for mini of choice. i think if you participate every month, a mini of choice is a fair reward (12 months = 12 points). ofcourse if you win SOTM frequently then you can get other prizeboxes with the leftover points, along with the mini of choice. only people who are interested will keep that 12 month streak strong. this also benefits people who win a lot as well since potentially they could get 2 mini of choice or a mini of choice plus poke prizebox.

3 = regular prizebox
6 = poke prizebox
12 = mini of choice (10 might more fair too)

CDT already has regulations on the quality of submissions so cant just use paint for 3 mins and get a point
